In need of advice...

First let me start by saying, I know none of you are surgeons and I will be talking with my surgeon tomorrow but I know there are so many people on here...someone maybe has experienced this. I am asking for the advice and know it will be taken only as advice. I had my surgery on Friday and was released yesterday. I think that was kinda soon with my complication in recovery. I was having severe pain in my chest when I awoke and they had to give me nitro glicerine(sp). I heard one of the nurses say maybe it was a heart attack and then another say no it was my diaphram and too much gass. I am still having the pain in the middle of my back and in the middle of my chest closer to my sternum. It does not feel like my heart. I also have mild scoliosis and was wondering if this could be part of the problem? Has anyone had any problems like this? If so, how long before the pain goes away? Any suggestion with helping the pain?

shelley i had my surgery on may 9th. you will experience alot of gas and pain from the gas after surgery. i had alot of pain in my shoulders and upper back and alot of pressure. it does go away and they are not kidding when they say walk, walk, walk. if you are able to walk around your living room and kitchen it will help get the gas out. i am not a dr but definetly talk it over with him as soon as possible. i am just letting you know from my experience. hope you get to feeling better soon. and welcome to the losing side!!!! rach

Thanks for the info. I took a tums last night before bed and when I awoke this morning, I felt wonderful! I have kinda over done it today so I have to learn to take it easy! Shelley

Shelley I am glad your feeling better. I was worried. I will have to remember the tums when I have my surg. ( If I ever get a date). It is taking forever!! Shelli
