What BCBS of IL really means...
I have totally given up on Blue Cross Blue Sh*t.
I have calculated what it would cost me to meet the requirements. Start with Optifast (which I tried for one month) at close to $1000 per month -- not covered by BCBS by the way.
Then dietician -- covered to some minor extent.
Then exercise program not covered (ok, will need that after surgery anyway...)
Then psych exam covered at a relatively low rate.
Then the potential that I will not live that long. Had a heart attack. Have diabetes, High blood pressure, etc. etc.
So, I started investigating Lap Band. Lap Band is $10,500 at Wish Center. For grins, I had them submit to BCBS again. Guess what. Got the same letter. It really does seem like they do it in batches.
So, I just applied for a new type of payment option -- it is called a home equity loan. Will just pay it out of pocket for Lap Band. yes, I would probably prefer RNY, but this is an affordable option.
One last chance before is the fact that my company is shopping for new inusurance as of October 1. All things being equal, they will renew with BCBS if the rates are good. Will know for sure in mid august. If that does not pan out, I am self-pay.
Ok, if I sound a little p*ssed, that is the truth. I have been playing the BCBS game now for quite a while. I have just given up.
