Hello Nanette I am asuming that you are having WLS laporscopicaly (sp). If you cheat your liver will not go down to a size that is movable for the surgeon. So there for they will have to cut you open! And that is very painful from what my Mother has told me. I had Laporscopic and I was sitting up in my bed like an indian 6hours after surgery. Everyone is differant of corse. But what ever you do try to stick to the Liquid diet. I tought i would never be able to do it. I found that just the first few days were hard then It became very easy. It will help you loose some extra pounds before surgery. Good Luck and I hope I have helped you. Good Luck. Congrats on your up comming WLS!!! CHER -60

I'm not trying be negative but I think that there is a possiblity that you might just have a big liver and they will have a open procedure anyway. I don't know if it was different a couple years back but when my mom had hers done they said that her liver was too big and they would have to do open right off the bat. Good luck to you I hope eveything goes well. Don't be stressed you are going to do great. Laura

I starting today as well on liquids. I will keep you in my prayers, likewise me. I bought so much stuff(chicken/beef broth, protein shake mix - IDS & Muscle Milk, and popcicles, and splenda sweetened juice). I will truly take one day at a time, to ensure my success. Lana

Look at it this way....you're going to face much harder things in the coming months than your pre op diet. This is why we all say that our docs operated on our stomachs, not our heads. The way you're looking at your pre op diet, you're guaranteeing you will not succeed! Change your way of thinking..and change your life. You only get one go at this, chicky. Make the most of it. Don't say 'Can I?'...say "I CAN!!!!" YOU are the boss of you from now on. Don't let this pre op diet get all up in your head and drive you crazy. I agree with Gina G....COWBOY UP!!!

THANK YOU EVERYBODY!! I KNEW I COULD COUNT ON MY BUDDIES HERE TO HELP ME WITH THIS. YES KATHY AND GINA YOU ARE RIGHT I NEED TO BE MORE POSITIVE I AM STILL WORKING ON THAT IT IS DIFFICULT WHEN I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A NEGATIVE ATTITUDE BUT I WAM AND WILL GET BETTER. I DO NOT HAVE TO DO A 14 DAY LIQUID DIET JUST A DIABETIC DIET THAT HAS BEEN ALTERED W/NO SALT AND VERY LOW SUGAR AND PROTEIN. I CAN AND WILL DO THIS I DESERVE TO SUCCEED AND SO DOES MY FAMILY DESERVE THE SAME. THANK YOU AGAIN EVERYBODY YOU MEAN THE WORLD TO ME!!!! NANETTE
