Question for you guys.......Who sends the letter to your insurance company your primary doctor or Dr. Alverdy's office. I'm so nervous that I won't be approved because I'm unsure as to what they mean about MD supervised weightloss attempts. I went to the olivera weight and management center on the northside, but I simply filled out some forms, got a b12 shot and some phentermine and was sent on my way. Does that count. I know this is the net so people are not so willing to divulge lots of info, but if anyone is willing to tell, what type of insurance do you all have and if approved by your insurance what took place during the approval process. What happens after my appt. with Alverdy? I haven't been scheduled to see the nutritionist or the psychologist yet. If you guys don't want to put this info on the web then please feel free to email me at [email protected] I'm just really nervous because now that I've decided to do this, it seems so far away, kind of like it's not going to happen for me. I thank you all for any info shared.

From what I've heard they(insurance companys) want weightloss attempts that were monitored by your PCP. This is especially important because your PCP will be the one writing the letter for you. It helps to write down any diets that you have attempted. If you do a search on OH, you will find a lot of useful info for "diet history." The insurance process is different for everyone. I was approved a day after my letter was sent. You should check with your company and see what their policy is. The coordinator(s) June and Charlene send a letter to your insurance company. It's a standard letter that they send out for EVERY patient all they do is put your information in it. I had my psych eval & nurition appoint as well as seeing Dr. A all in the same day. I'm so glad that I did. Once you have done all of those appointments they sit down-generally every Wednesday and then they decide whether or not you are a good canidate. If they feel you need nutrition classes then they will recommend that, if they feel you need behavior theraphy then they will recommend that. Somethings will be a requirement and they won't give you a date until you do it. Dr. Alverdy also requires a sleep study. I have to do mine on Monday the 27th. So far, it's been three months. I had my consultation, pysch eval & nutrition appoinment in January. Approved in Febuary and started testing-blood work. March-Sleep study, after I do my sleep study and it is determined whether I need a CPA*****t then I'll get a date. It's a long process but anything worth having is worth waiting for, if it was easy I'd be a tab bit scared

Hi all. Just checking in to say Hi and see what everybody is up to. I had my appt. w/Alverdy, the dietician, and the psych eval. Now I'm just waiting to receive a letter or a call saying I was accepted into their program. I'm really excited right now, but feel like I'm on hold. I would really just like to hear something from someone. I want to call so bad, but I know that I have to be patient. I really can't believe myself. I was so against this procedure about 1 year ago and would get nothing but a bad attitude when doctors would try to say they thought I was a good candidate, but after much research about the procedure in and of itself, I feel very good about this decision. I'm not saying that I'm not scared to death, but I feel at ease for the moment. Anywho.......What are you guys doing right now? Had your surgery already? still going through the motions of getting there? What? Thanks guys, Sascy
