Trying to reach anyone recently having surgery at Washington University Weight Mgt Center in St. Louis, Mo. I have a few questions about the pre surgery fees that they say are paid on demand the day of services. One fee for the counsultation & Screening and another for a 1 week liquid diet that is required before surgery. The question , Did your insurance cover one or both of these fees. Did you have to submit these cost to your insurance yourself or just paid out of pocket? I have Health Alliance and they have pre approved the surgery but nothing is said about these fees???? Confused.

Mike, Your questions are great.. but they are dependent upon your insurance plan (not even your provider, but your PLAN.. and that's specific to your employer). If you are not absolutely, 100% sure how or what or IF this will be covered, get on the horn to your insurance company -- go talk to your HR rep -- SOMETHING.. if they need to know specific charges, call your surgeon's office and ask them about it.. they'll tell you! Ask them what they're used to seeing from XYZ insurance company and they can tell you that, too.. Don't think you're being a bother to them.. or that your insurance company will see what you're doing and try to put a stop to it.. they're there to help -- and will help -- all you have to do is ask! Good luck! Stefanie

Howdy Mike...glad to "see" a new male face in here...stop by the "men's" forum too when you get a chance, it's a great place to get all the info and some straight shooting too.
