Hi Dani, I had my open RNY done at Geary Community Hospital in Junction City. Dr. Bollman and Dr. Narcisco prefer the open RNY, and I could not say enough nice things about them. They are wonderful. The surgeons, along with a wonderful hospital sure made my RNY a wonderful experience. I'd have your friend attend a seminar and go from there. Good Luck Theresa

Topic: Wellington KS Support Group?
Hey Y'all~ I haven't posted here in a couple of years but am ready to get back in the swing of things... There are several of us who are organizing a support group in south central Kansas. We will try to find a place in Wellington to meet. I started one in Ponca City Ok close to four years ago but tired of the driving so coasted along for the past two years until some friends nudged me into starting a KS group. If you are interested in joining us, feel free to email me. I am trying to use a room at the hospital and don't know what days the meetings will be held yet. We will begin with twice a month and go from there. H*U*G*S, Rachel_T

Topic: RE: Any KS Medicaid people?
Kansas Medicaid DOES NOT cover wls period. So many have tried. Medicare DOES. That's who paid for mine. I don't know where you are but the doctors at tall grass in Topeka do accept Medicare patients. The catch with Medicare is that you must have the surgery done at a certified bariatric surgical center of excellence. St. Francis in Topeka is a coe. With a bmi over 60 they may ask her to lose some weight first. I don't know for sure.

I really like Tallgrass also. She is just not wanting todrive the hr. I dont like it but I didnt have a problem with it LOL :) I had heard on the radio that they were doing Lap RNY there now right after I had all my approvals and date fro Topeka. Or I might have switched LOL But I do like Tallgrass..

As of Oct they weren't doing it because I went to a meeting there.  However, I have since heard they were now doing lap band.  They really pushed RYN.  That frustrated me a little.  However, they were really nice and very very helpful.   I have been very happy with Tallgrass in Topeka.  It is 1hr farther but they have done so many and seem to be pretty equal in supporting Ryn and lap band.   This is just my feelings, however.

Topic: RE: Need to tighten band
There is a wt loss center in Wichita.  At least when I was checking into wt. loss the one center did the surgery in the overland park, kansas but you could go get fills in their wichita center.  Hope you find what you are looking for.  I do know that Junction City is now doing lap bands but probably Topeka would be closer.  TallGrass in Topeka is where I had my surgery.  It is easy to get to and right off interstate 70.

Topic: RE: Dr. Malley
There is a website www.newhopetalk.com that has some people who have had Dr. Mallery perform surgery for them.  I have heard good things, but I had a different doctor. Christie
