Ashley, so sorry to hear about your troubles.  I can definitely relate.  I have recently been approved for a revision to the sleeve.  I don't see how someone COULDN"T go on to lose more weight with a revision....the liquid diet after surgery alone will do it!  ha ha

I am hoping that I can lose a bit easier with the sleeve, as for most people, they can tolerate any foods, therefore, planning meals is much easier to do and stick to.

Good luck to you!!

So sorry for your bad news! Hoping and praying you reach a solution quickly. I don't see how revising would not allow you to lose more weight. Seems very odd. In my opinion, seek out a second opinion.
Good luck. :::::::::cyber hugs::::::::::

So sorry Ashley.  I would totally see a new surgeon about this and see what happens.

I could not imagine starting over with the process of WLS.  I would have to gain weight to qualify most likely.  So hopefully you will not have to do that! Is that something to do with your insurance?

It's so upsetting to see so many "veterans" having so many issues post-op.  While many of us have been successful with weight loss for now..what happens later is what scares me.

I have no idea what the heck is going on with me either right now.  I will talk revision when the time comes.

I hope you do not have a slip and keep your band under these cir****tance. I think my doctor would have to fight me to remove my band if I couldn't revise quickly.  I need my "tool" and I know we all do.

I know you will keep us posted.  Good luck!

I didn't have to requalify at all.  I was approved instantly.  Revision is a liitle different criterias than original surgeries. Thebonly hold up I had was getting a surgery date with my surgeon which took an entire year!

when i had my revision i was told that I would lose more slowly than others.  I cant believe how much better I feel now than when I had the band.  Whether you revise to a sleeve or a band you will marvel at how sated you feel without thinking about it or any hunger between meals etc. in a different way than the band.  I dont feel restricted at all per se, I just get a satisfied feeling after eating a very small portioned meal.  It is so peasant.  Without getting all up in my own details I would encourage you to get a revised surgery so you can continue on to your healthy weight. I do not lose as fast as other RNY'S but I am losing steadily without dieting.. I eat small healthy non processed foods, walk 4 miles daily and ride my bike, spin and stay active.  I am losing 2 lbs a week steadily and going on 6 mos. post op.  GO FOR IT....

Thanks everyone for your advice and kind words. I'm not planning on rushing into anything, I just hate to have to start this all over again. I was reveiwing my insurance policy and coverage today and the criteria is the same as it was before, bmi of at least 40, pysch eval, nutrition visit, doctor supervised weight loss attempts, etc. My bmi is currently 39.5, so I think I may have a good chance of getting approved. If not, I think I will keep the band unfiled for now and see how I do on my own. I don't really want to have it taken out and go through another surgery for nothing. I will keep everyone posted.

Thank you all again!
