ok, first of all the whole brushing of teeth thing with Dr. Loggins.  I asked if with the band I can't brush either and he said no... well??? I wrote on the band forum to see if this is normal and a few replys thought it was crazy. that he was being too causious,  does he think I'll swallow a tube of paste?  we'll see????   then, yesterday when I saw dr. I notice he smelled BO bad. did any of you ever notice that. he looks well dressed, and so smart and clean.  I was very surprised. hey, as long as he operates well, what do i care?  ok, that was my *****ing for the day, haha, My family only wishes.

I never noticed BO from him. I'd rather he be overly cautious than not. It's only a short time. Also, remember he's had no deaths. So, I guess being overly cautious is a good thing. Do you have to have a leak test having the band? If so, that's why you can't brush your teeth. He doesn't want to risk anything going down into your stomach. Also, no shower while in the hospital either. Bring some deodorant. They will supply you with a facecloth and towel. You can freshen up.

I know he seems overly cautious, but when I was in the hospital the nurses all raved about him cause ( Knock on Wood) They said they have never had one of his patients come back because of complications. Most surgeons do not do the week of Lovenox after surgery either. I would rather be safe then sorry .

I've never noticed that and he frequently gives hugs when he sees you post-op. I sure hope he doesn't read these boards (I know Corinne sometimes does). I'd be so embarrased!!!

I'd rather err on the side of caution!  Sure, my mouth was dry, but it's a small price to pay for two days knowing that I can brush..and LIVE the rest of my life!  It seems horrible as you are going through it, but I already don't remember how bad it really was!  (it's kinda like having a baby..if we remembered the pain, we wouldn't have a second..or third..  haha)  Ruth
