Can't wait to figure this whole thing out

boy my body is trying to tell me things and I  don't understand it.  I dont' know, if I'm hungry, or its just my band, or If  i have gas it is just really weird.  is it my little pouch that's hungry, or the other part of my belly?  I ate supper last night and was so full after maybe 1/4 cup of food.  I was affraid I was gonna blow.  then after an hour and 1/2 I was feeling "Starving" again.  It really is weird.  I hope once I get a fill, maybe it will stay with me longer. or it might not even be hunger???  it is just the same feeling as if you hadn't eaten all day, growling, pain in the tummy, light headed.  I guess this is what they call "Bandster Hell".  This will be a long learning experience.  so much to experiment with, and just when I know I"ll have it figured out I"ll get another fill and things will change.  I still am not sorry, I guess I thought It would be easier and I was prepared.  I guess it is just different when You are going through it.  I am feeling better daily as far as pain goes. and didnt' even want a drink last night with everyone haveing some beers, I was amazed, but boy, that grilled steak looked good.... wanted to thank you all again, got another bunch of cards from the Hospital yesterday, probably another 15 of them.  Your all so amazing.  have a great weekend.  I'm Outa here....

Hi Cheryl, I'm glad you are feeling better daily!! I don't know if it is the same with the band but I know that often if I don't eat a dense enough protein my pouch is hungry after about 2 hours.  I generally try to drink something then rather than eat again but that's just me.  I have read and know people who will eat again after 2 hours ~ sounds like it's normal but again it's not the band???  Wish I could be of more help.  I've been feeling hungry a lot lately but realized that it is because I'm not eating enough...duh.  Yesterday as of 4pm I had had less than 450 calories and was lite headed and very cranky.  Got home and ate dinner and vwalah I felt much better.  I hope you can figure this all out but be patient is my advice because even at 1year out I still don't have it figured out.

haha, I guess it takes some time, and its only been 5 days, oppps !!!  plus our Brain just works against us.  can't wait for real food.... thank you steph... I am feeling great, I walked for about 20 mins. and really am doing good today.

Hi Cheryl, Sorry I haven't posted sooner. Welcome home and welcome to the losers bench. Glad you're doing so well. From you're posts it sounds like you're doing great. I'm one of those people Stephaine talked about eating every 2 hours or so. That's what works for me, everyone is different. I do it to maintain. If I didn't I'm affraid I would still be losing and I don't want to lose anymore. I eat breakfast, then have a protein snack then lunch then another snack then dinner then another snack before bed. I drink in between as much as I can. If I skip a meal or a snack I get light headed or tired, usually depends on what I'm doing. Soon you'll be having steak on the grill with everyone else. You just might want to eat it cooked medium, so it's more moist, I use to eat my steak well done, now I'm a medium girl. lol Well done is to tough for me now even if I chew and chew it still feels like its stuck. When will you start your gardens? We worked on our pool this week and I thought of your beautiful gardens when I was outside, thinking something like you have would look so nice here. HI Dori, I so can see why you eat every 2 hours, but your done loosing I havn't started.  maybe once out of liquid phase the food will stay with me longer tho.  I am feeling wonderful today, I walked for 20 mins. this morning and again for 10 mins. this afternoon.  got alot done in town, well, no really me, i just rode around, hehe.  I can't wait to get my hands dirty in the gardens.  I was suppose to start my seeds indoors this week, but I was not up to that yet.  I think I might do it tomorrow, i'll be home all day and need a small project.  I could work in my gardens every day, and I usually do when the weather is right.  but I do early morning, before the heat hits, and water later in the day.  I try and make a new garden every 2 years.  it usually takes that long to get it all weed free, and to afford all the plants.  My dgt. plans on having her wedding in our back yard next year so my goal is to really spruce them all us this year and next. so I might not be making any new ones.  thank you for your reply.  enjoy your weekend.  cheryl

Hi honey, It prob is about the kind of food you are eating. Once you start eating some bulkier food it stays with you longer...for me...pureed steak stays with me longer than a shake.  It is a long learning experioence, you are so insightful to see that.  It took us so many years to learn what we did to get here, it will take a while to undo it.  Think of a baby and how they learn to eat.  That first bite of food gets rolled around and pushed out how many times?? That is what our wee little pouch is doing now...Make sure you are not drinking too soon after your protein, because doing that can wash away your food, and leave you hungry. I don't think anything we read or hear can prepare us for the reality of WLS. We do the best we can and then learn to live with the results.  You are doing fine!! and I think totally feeling approcpriately for one week out! hang in there, honks and hugs, kate

How is it going today Cheryl. I am sure once you get your fill it will be different for you. I can relate a little bit to what you are going through cause when my hernia was acting up it was almost like having a band. I would have times when I would be hungry in my main belly but food was in my throat. go figure lol. So how are you feeling otherwise? Staple lines healing ok? Sending you big HUGS this morning.

Kathy, yesterday I felt wonderful, kinda pulled my port area rolling over in bed last night, so was sore some this morning.  DH just left to do groceries. wooo hooo, bout time someone else does it.  Its always my job, and let me tell you, it SUCKS!!  lets see if he can do it for under $300.00, he always complains to me.  so anyway, i'm taking it a little easier today.  my incisions look great, like I said the port area is a litte sore in side.  still thinking of food and hungry, but getting better.  was just confused as to what the hunger pains were, if it was hunger or gas.  thanks for asking.  have a great Sunday.  cheryl

Cheryl, I am with you on your first post here.  My body is making lots of noises.  I didn't want to go to church this am because the loudness of my rumbles.  I do not feel that it is hunger though for me.  I think it is just gas.  It seems that you have hit stages sooner than me.  I wake up and have a 3 ounce protein drink that I bought online from PROFECT.  I take my time with it.  Then water or crystal light.  I actually might try decafe coffee today!  I will have another 3 oz protein drink for lunch and dinner.  That really seems to do it for me.  It will probably change later this week.  My water seems to go down faster then I thought.   Well, I have to go for now and take a shower.  I will talk with you soon!  Jill
