Hurray for you! The time will start to fly by now the hardest part being the two week pre surgery liquid diet and post surgery liquid diet. Keep up the good work and stay positive. Expect some depression to set in after surgery almost like post partum depression. Warn all your friends this may happen so they won't be suprised and unsure how to act.  You are losing a part of you that has been there for ever and starting on a totally new journey towards an unknown you and it can be hard to grasp.

I love   emmc program  they have been great with me

I know see dr  Haung and  he has been great too.

When you have see the dietician and the doctors you should always ask for a copy of all your labs.  I also have them sent to my pcp when i have them done.   You need to  have  vitamin  D  level checked
b 12 levels checked    Iron levels checked  and  then the regular things that they check for.

after two years  out you get checked  once a year.   And it is your choice  to have it done by your pcp if you want but you should always  send it to  the  program that you came out of too.

I know  that if you dont advocate for yourself  you will not always get  the best  quality care from any program or doctor out there.  I  am very lucky my doctor went to ohio at my six week checkup but  i do stay in touch with him and   he gives me  advice  when he thinks i need it.

But what i have learned from all of this is that if you dont follow the rules  at least  75 percent of the time you will not be successful in keeping the weight off or losing  it either.    I am exercising  more now  just to keep from gaining.    Zumba Zumba Zumba  and we all know how much i like to exercise i just found something that i  like.   If you dont  do anything  with follow up please get the labs done with your pcp  as  serious things can go wrong if you deficient in some of these vitamins.

It's a great place to have your surgery, but my aftercare has not been stellar. At my one year I was having a lot of pain and Dr. Huang dismissed my pain and was disappointed in my weight loss.  Then they never scheduled my 18 month appointment, I had to call them three times. Then I got a nasty phone call saying that since they had not received my labs they were going to cancel my appointment, well I never got a lab slip or a phone call telling me I had an appiontment. So for personal reasons I have decided not to go back there. But I still would go there for surgery, they are the best around IMO.

I live in Ellsworth, maine and I am looking for someone to be a support buddy.  I had my surgery done 3/4/2009 and have come to a complete stand still with my weight loss.  I lived in Va beach va for 26 years and moved to maine a little over a year ago.  It is a complete culture shock and cannot seem to get into the routine anymore and all of my motivation is GONE.  I need help!  I dont know what to do to get my motivation back and just recently had my fluid completely taken out of my band due to severe nausea.  Would love to meet anyone or just chat with them on here.  Thanks in advance, looking forward to meeting/talking to you

Jeanine,

I didn't have my surgery with EMMC, I just moved to Maine about a year ago and started seeing Dr. Michelle Toder at EMMC and at first I was taken a back from her.  The people are nice but not what I am used to from my surgeon who did my surgery in Virginia.  Good luck :)

Did you go through EMMC? What didn't you like about them? I am currently going through that program. I would like to hear the good, the bad and the ugly.
