I had been a Type 2 diabetic, on pills and insulin for years prior to my 1 year WLS surgiversary.  At that time, all my meds were discontinued, and I've been maintaining an A1c between 5.6 and 6.4 ever since.  I've been adding cinnamon to my yogurt, as I heard it helps control blood sugar - I'm convinced it works.  Reading what you've shared just confirms to me the benefits of cinnamon.

Not sure about the Chromium component, but I'm gonna read up on it - thanks for sharing!

Hi My Friend!

I miss you too. And I want to let you know that I am exactly where you are today. Up from eating too much, particularly cookies, sweets and chips.

Right now, I am like LynnMarie - weigh myself every day in an endeavor to stay on track.

And I am like Rene, I have drawn that line on the scale, that red flags me into more diligence.

But I am gentle with myself by reminding me that this crazy little brain is what is driving my behavior. I still have the same brain, just a thinner body. What makes me think that my brain has changed? I keep in the forefront of my consciousness the unhealthy behavior I would like to change. Finally: Take the action required to change the behavior, even though IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL! I just do it.

Oh yeah. And I listen to Paul. He paves a good road with his brutal honesty.

Going ice fishing this weekend, so I will not be at coffee. I am hoping to see you on the 4th!

Love,

MM

Hi all,
I know it has been FOREVER since I have posted.  Between work and trying to finish up my degree, I am just short of time.  Anyway, I was given a new med Cymbalta to help with my fibromyalgia.  Well, just like lyrica it made me hungry all the time and as we all know, gaining weight is not worth it for me.  So, I talked to my pain Doc. and she told me that someone else had told here about C&C.  It is 1000mg Cinnamon + 800mcg of Chromium Pictolinate(sp).  I take one of each every morning and have not only lost the munchies, but have lost 20bls in the last couple of months.  I had maintained good weight control after my surgery until my knee was crushed 3-1/2 years ago.  I gained 30lbs over the months I was confined to bed and a wheel chair.  I am still 35lbs over my lowest weight from losing 180 lbs 9 years ago, but pretty sure over the next few mounths, that will come off as well.  Walgreens has the best prices when they have their buy one get one free.  $5.00 a month is nothing compared to what this is doing for me.  Anyway, I just wanted to share so that it might help anyone else that is struggling.  All the women at my work are using it too, and have been losing weight just because of not munching all day long.
Lot's of Love and Hugs!!!!!

Topic: 4th Week of the Year Weigh-in--where u at?
Well, I had a much better week this week.  I buckled down and did the right things (mostly).  Less food, more tracking, more exercise, and it worked!

Starting weight: 298.4 lbs
Last week: 144.8 lbs
This week: 141.4
Loss of 3.4 lbs.  WOOT!

I was actually even lower yesterday, but Sundays and football can be my downfall.  Plus I made really good guacamole!

My exciting news is that I signed up for coaching for 2012 with a certified running coach--yes, I did!  Hopefully that will really help me prepare for my half-marathons this year and stay injury-free.  I've never had a coach for a sport before--I'm ridiculously pumped about this.

Nadine:  I totally agree with what everyone has said.  Go back the the beginning--protein first, portion control, nip the snacking and the carbs in the bud.  You can do it!

I found that drawing a line in the sand (or on the scale) has helped me.  I have a weight number that is a red line.  I went over that line last week, and it woke me up big time!  Back to tracking everything I eat, plus ramping up the exercise.  I did two-a-day workouts a couple of times this week, and it is showing on the scale.

Exercise is absolutely key for me.  I just have to make it part of my everyday routine.  When I get complacent, and it doesn't seem so hard, then I better find a way to ramp up the intensity, or try something new.

Topic: RE: Where & when is S metro coffee group this week?
Susie:  This group is open to anyone, pre- or post- op, no matter how far out in either direction.  Any surgery, too.  We are all about inclusion!

We meet every Saturday morning--whoever can come--at 8:30am.  Location alternates between the Caribou in Byerlys in Eagan (off Yankee Doodle Rd) and the Panera Bread in Burnsville Center.  Next weekend will be in Burnsville.

You are welcome, as is anyone who'd like to come.  The more the merrier!

Is this something that is open to anyone who is pre-op in the Minneapolis area?  I would like to get together with people who are in the same process as i am or have already had surgery, etc.   Would just like to seek out some support.

Thanks,

Susie

Topic: Do you or someone you know hem pants super cheap?
I'm looking for someone in the metro are to hem 6-8 pairs of pants cheap, cheap, cheap... know anyone???  I may end up having to just do my own hack job, but thought I'd ask around first.  :)  I just can't invest $10/pair in hemming on these Goodwill pants getting me through the losing stage.
