Are you getting a VSG, not a DS? It's my understanding that Dr. Buchwald does not perform standalone VSGs.
I have heard a lot of great things about Dr. I. I also believe that Dr. I practices out of/performs surgery at Abbott. Dr. I DOES perform standalone VSGs.
As for Dr. B, I adore and admire the man quite a bit. And he's got what seems like about a million years of experience. Add a million supleratives, and that's my opinion of Dr. B. If you are thinking about getting a DS, I would recommend him or Dr. I. Period.
BUT (and this is a big but), dealing with U of M has not always been plesant. The clinic's office staff leave a lot to be his desired, I'm not enamored of their clinic's head CNP (who sees almost all the bariatric patients alongside the Dr's). The hospital stay was perfectly fine and I felt very well taken care of.

Topic: RE: Pre-Turkey Monday weigh-in
Thanks to you my butt has been on the treadmill 2 days in a row, and at 5AM today no less! Thanks for the motivation!
My plan is to have turkey and squash at my parents as well as a taste of the other stuff, but thankfully, I don't have room for much. At the inlaws it'll be leftovers then shopping. Going to again try to stick to protein and also bring protein with for the overnighter- bars and drinks. Also bringing m****er bottle and mix ins.
Have a great Thanksgiving, everyone!
Starting/Highest Weight: 313
Day of Surgery: 300

Dr. I performed my surgery 4 years ago. He's an excellent surgeon, I love love love him. When I'd come in for my follow-ups, he would tell me how beautiful I was, how great my legs were (that I should wear shorts and skirts), and I'd leave the appointment feeling like I was a super model. That being said, I do NOT like his PA Donna. I saw her twice and neither time was I examined, she was always late, she spent maybe 45 seconds or a minute with me and moved on. One time I had a pretty bad rash and needed something for it, she never even looked at it, even though I asked her to. I refused to see her after that and always saw Dr. I.

Any experiences with any of them? I'm trying to decide if I should go through the U or stick with Unity...
Well I used to have a link here, but you know how that goes...
Topic: Pre-Turkey Monday weigh-in
Alright, here is where we set our pre-Turkey Day baseline, right? It's Monday, and time to weigh-in and be accountable. What's your plan for the week? Where will you be when you report in next Monday?
My plan includes exercise! I am running the Turkey Day 5K in downtown Minneapolis Thursday morning, so hopefully my metabolic engine is revving all day. Elliptical today and Wednesday, running tomorrow (probably treadmill, since I fear the ice!), and maybe shopping on Friday,
I fully intend to eat some of everything on Thursday, but portion control will be my watchword. Turkey is good protein!
What is your plan to stay on track?
This week:
Starting weight: 298.4 lbs
Last week: 140.4 lbs
This week: 137.9 lbs
Loss of 2.5 lbs
Yesterday I was the lowest I have ever been (except perhaps in childhood!), but I ate salty food last night so this morning I pay the price. Not that I'm trying to lose any more, but it's good to go into Turkey week on the lower side.
