Worst of all, I couldn't run this morning because I couldn't find my running shoes. I rescued my running clothes from the dresser before they shoved it into a corner where I can't access any of my clothes, but I forgot about the shoes. Have no idea where they are.
Ah well, this too shall pass. One problem is that I have a tendency to give myself the "you deserve a treat" talk: you probably know that one. You've suffered X Y or Z, so you should be able to eat a scone. (Did that yesterday.) You're dealing with X, Y or Z, so you shouldn't have to work out. (Did that, too.) I have to keep reminding myself that a few hardships do not entitle me to relax on the rest!!
Anyway, I found my scale this morning!! That was a triumph. So here goes, not too bad, considering...
Starting weight: 298.4
Last week: 137.5
This week: 139.4
Gain of 2.1 lbs this week
Just added back what I was down last week. I can live with that, as long as I can shake this entitlement attitude. C'mon peeps, help me kick it into gear!!
This surgery saved my life and also changed it, but for the better. Hang in there!
If there's a protein bar that works for you, try to carry one with you. You may have to do some trial and error, so buy single bars, not boxes full, until you find something that works. I just threw away about 8 boxes of various, (now stale) protein bars! There are also those single servings of soup that you could throw in a purse--there's usually a microwave around somewhere, and lots of them are designed so you can drink the soup.
It really will get better!

Is there anything that sits well? Many people do struggle a bit to find foods that are tolerate, others (like me) seem to tolerate just about anything.
I had the Duodenal Switch procedure done 3 years ago on December 29th . . . I've been at a stable 160lbs for the past year and a half and I think I'm finally ready for the doctor shopping phase of plastics. So far I've been looking at the surgeons at the University of Minnesota Medical Center (same location as where I had my weight loss surgery).
I was wondering if anyone had anything they would like to weigh in to the decision making process. All suggestions are both welcome and appreciated.
Thank you!!
I don't know what a ROSE revision is, but I am having a Roux-N-Y revision in December with Dr. Buchwald at the U of MN. He pioneered gastric bypass surgery in MN & has 40 years of experience, so you might want to try him. He's a great guy & surgeon-I went to school with his kids.
I wouldn't need a revision (he did a great job with the surgery) except for my own issues (my husband died) as I had kept my weight off for 9 years.
Good luck!
Its been over six years since we've launched our forums. During this time it has seen thousands of fresh faces, greetings, meetings, partings, arguments, kind words, life transformations, cathartic rants, and simply happy time pass. It has been with us throughout this time, silently observing and facilitating. But like any wise old man, its bones were getting old. Its joints were aching, and it has been needing a new jolt of energy.
A Mobile World
Did you know that over 30% of you visit our website using a mobile device? For those who do visit us via mobile, we owe you a sincere apology, because our forums have been horrendous on a mobile browser. But the big news is that things are about to change! Our new forums are completely mobile friendly and compatible with iPhone, Android, and pretty much any other modern smart phone.
Each post, topic, and forum shows up beautifully, with the full set of features, and in nice large font. See the screenshots for yourself.
You dont have do anything different, just browse to the forums like you normally would. This means that you can finally put these away:
Not Just for Mobile
The interface on your desktop browser has also been cleaned up a great deal. There is now less clutter on the page, and the overall experience is a lot cleaner. Check out some more screenshots here!
You will notice that each post no longer has 400 buttons below it. Only the buttons that are relevant to each post show up, making your screen space a lot less cluttered. Also, when you reply to another person's post, the entire post is indented inside, making it a lot easier to figure out who has replied to whom.
Launching soon! Maybe as early as next week! Maybe.
And do remember that this is not in any way a be-all-end-all when it comes to the forums. We are in the process of constantly learning and improving upon what we have, and this is just one step along the way.
Stay tuned for the changes! We look forward to hearing your thoughts on this.
