St Joseph has a wonderful medical center - really new - and is about 55 miles north of Kansas City so for those of you in the KC area it would probably be closer. It is right up 71/I-29, I go there all the time to visit DD. Sedalis is sort of the middle of nowhere as far as I'm concerned so St.Joseph seems like a good change for most of you on the west side of the state. Of course if you're in the middle or the east it's not so good. He's worth travelling for I think and as you say, he rarely makes people come in anymore. My PCP follows me and orders the lab work I want.

i dont know where St Joseph is even but im sure it is further than Sedalia from here. but then i havent seen himj in two years. I get orders from him once a year to have such and such blood work done and then it is faxed to him.... never anything heard from him unless something is low. which it never is. , anyway i sort of feel betrayed in a way but understand too when people make a move to better them selves.  i ought to tell him to come to Ecuador with us lol

Barbara tell your hubby that we are all praying for him. ...i dont think we are suppose to get much except freezing rain. i would rather have snow than sleet and ice any day.

I looked it up on mapquest and the time frame is the sam but it goes from 86 miles to 100 in distance. I am game to carpool but for some reason he never has me come to his office. Just the blood testing and review. He used to have me come to a meeting once a year but that stopped last month. Maybe it will change after his move.

Thanks for thinking of my hubby. He is doing a 12 hour shift today and probably the next two. They are calling for 19.4 inches here.

Penni,

My PCP's nurse showed me how to give myself the B12 injections.  I went in the first couple of times and watched her give them to me then the next couple if times, she watched me as I gave them to myself.  I think that would be the best way to do it.  It really is no big deal once you get use to doing it.  I give myself B12 injections every other week.  The once a month didn't help me as much as the twice monthly do.

Glad you're getting back on track!

Barbara:

I saw Dr. H January 18th.  He and Margie did say they thought they would be moving to St. Joseph, MO.  However, it wouldn't be official until the end of that week.  Dr. H said that Sedalia just didn't have the facilities that were needed to do bariatric surgery.  St. Joseph would have everything needed under one roof - nutritionist, psychologist, etc.  Plus they weren't COE but if Dr. H joined them they would be put on the fast track to becoming one since Dr. H is COE accredited.

Margie did ask me how far St. Joseph is from where I live.  I think they are hoping that most of his patients will be able to continue to see him in St. Joseph.  As it is now, my PCP orders the Blood work that Dr. H requests then he faxes him a copy of the results.  I'm sure that Dr. H would continue to do that monitor the blood work even for those patients who can't physically go to St. Joseph once a year to see him.

I'm sure they'll be sending out information to all his patients as soon as they have everything finalized and know the exact dates they'll be closing.  My husband said it might actually be a little closer for me than driving to Sedalia.  How much difference would it be in your driving time?  Who knows, maybe at our next annual visit, we can car pool to St. Joe?  Would love the company!

Here's the email address I have for Margie:

Well, I'd better scoot.  We're suppose to get up to 15 inches of snow by tomorrow night.  I HATE snow!!  At least I've got my grocery shopping done and am prepared as best a I can be.  Will be praying for your hubby as he's out there treating the roads!

Love you my friend!

Not much happening here either Jo.  Basically just hunkering down and getting ready for the storm.  Cody came home from school early.  Now we are just waiting on our roommate Kelly to come home from work then we will all be present and accounted for and "mama Dee" can quit worrying.  Dave (Kelly's boyfriend) came home a few minutes ago and said the roads are starting to get slick.  The way the map looks we are looking to get almost a foot of snow after getting almost 1/2 inch of ice.  I did manage to talk my mom into leaving her house and go to my aunt/grandma's house.  She lives way out where I can pretty much guarantee she will lose electricity.  In 2006's ice storm we were without electricity for a week and a half.  That gets bad when you have a well and septic tank.  She hates to leave her house but did heed my warning.  At least at grandma's house if they lose electricity it will only be for a short period, nothing like at her house.  We went to the grocery store yesterday morning and made sure we were stocked up for the week.

Well, I better get off of here and finish cleaning this house.  I hope everyone stays safe and warm.

I came out my front door and found the porch to be very slick.  It's concrete so maybe that's why, but the roads were fine.  North of us it's ice.  The office manager said we will probably close early.

I don't have much to do this morning but that can change at any time.  I do like having work, makes the time go faster.

Nothing much going on with me.  My goal this week is to exercise every day if it's only 15 minutes.  Yesterday I did a lot of housework so I counted that as my exercise for Sunday.

Hope the snow misses us but doesn't look like it will.

Be safe!!
