Topic: Has Dr. Hornbostel sent notices to anyone that he is leaving?
This is the first I have heard of him leaving. Anyone get a notice or a recommendation of who would monitor our blood testing? I am feeling abandoned!

This is so sad to hear! I am disappointed in him for not telling us or at least me.

What is your thoughts?

Topic: iron and B12 deficiant
Hello mo.  I am 6 years post op and am now dealing with iron and B12 deficiant.  I am taking iron infusions.  I haven't had my B12 shot since Nov. and that is stupid on my part.  I need to give them to myself and I have no problem with that.  Everyone tells me that I have to wait until someone can show me because it is harder to give them intra muscular.  I have my B12 and I have my syringes just sitting there.  I have seen the nurses give them to me for years and I know I could give it to myself but am afraid I might do it wrong.  Any advice?--Penni

Topic: 3.5 years out!
Wow!  So, I went to my support group meeting this past week and I realized that I am 3.5 years out nowadays!

I've gone from a size 26 to a size 2, weight 241 to 123ish depending on the day ;-)  I do have extra sagging, bagging skin...but I'm okay with that.  I went from having 6 months left to live and taking 16 pills a day to having unlimited days to live and no pills a day (other than vitamins!!).

Having gastric bypass was the best decision I've ever made in my life and I've never regretted it one single day in my life.  The one regret I do have is not keeping up with OH, but gosh darn it I just don't have enough time in my life....lol

I miss you all!!

thanks ladies i sure did have a lot of happy birthday wishes , email , ecard, and smail mail cards yesterday....today my son brought me a MP3 player and it has the entire bible on it in several voices actiing it all out. great ...first mP3 player i have ever had. i like it but going to have to get me some of the good ear phones cause the buds hurt my ears....

Bev i hope that you find a way to help you get some relief on your back...i have found the Lioderm patches help mine a lot....they just numb the area where it hurts , not a fix but i will never have back surgery...i have taken care of too many people that have had back surgery....maybe one person out of 100 it helps a little but most it doesnt ...
Yes i knew that Doc Hornbostel is moving darn has he moved yet? i really need to go see him but havent ....
hope he likes it there.

Topic: RE: Open WLS support groups in the KC area?
I had RNY 2 1/2 years ago.  There are no support groups in the KC area.  My surgeon has a monthly group, but it's geared more toward new patients.  You would think as large as KC is there would be support groups.  Before I had surgery there was a group that met in Lee's Summit but I don't think they meet any more.

Happy, happy birthday Jan!!!

Sure hope that snow misses us.  We still have a little bit from a couple of weeks ago.  I wouldn't mind it so much if I was retired and could stay in, but I'm out every morning about 7:10.

We went to church this morning and I worked around the house from about 11:15 to 3:00.  My husband usually does the laundry with I gave him a week off because of his knee surgery.  I vacuumed and did a little dusting.

Beverly, hope your back problems clears up soon.

Glad to hear your brother is improving.  I'm sure it's difficult for you to see him like he is.  I will add him to my prayer list.
