Topic: RE: FINALLY!!!!!
Well my date is 2/11 and started pre op liquid diet today. Bought several kinds of shakes to try. Last meal was Outback Fillet with sweet potato and some bloomin onion with thunder down under chocolate brownie.
I am so busy at work I have not had time to think about surgery although a few weeks ago I was terrified. Going to DePaul with Dr. Morales. Hope I have an easy time. I have apnea so ICU will follow for a little while. I am planning a fall trip to Boston and Vermont Teddy Bear Factory. I hope by then I will be able to eat a few shrimp and a bite or two of lobster.
I am looking forward to being the new me.

Topic: Happy Saturday MO Peeps!!!
Good afternoon everyone.
I hope everyone is doing great on this beautiful day. We have to enjoy days like today since by Tuesday we are supposed to have ice/snow again.
Well yesterday my mom finally brought my scale over. I was so excited to have it that it was hard to wait until this morning to weigh.
But I managed it and this morning I got my weigh in and insert drum roll here.......I am officially down to 295!!!
My hard work is starting to pay off and I couldn't be happier and Michael couldn't be any prouder.
There isn't too much going on here this weekend. Last night Cody was at Mom's so Michael, our roomie, her boyfriend and I sat around playing the wii and drinking. It was a great time. Something we don't do often. It was nice to be around other adults. Cody will be back this afternoon. Tonight we will probably jus****ch a movie. Well, I'm going to get off of here so I can get a few things done before Cody gets home. Have a fantastic Saturday everyone!!

Topic: RE: Bariatric doctors near Fort Leonard Wood?
Hi. I was told when I went to see my PCP that there were 2 doctors in the area that Tricare will send you to...Dr. Hornbostel in Sedalia and Dr. De La Torre in Columbia but it was just up to Tricare where they send you. When I got my referral paperwork in the mail it was for Dr. De La Torre. I got my date the other day of February 28th. From start to finish with the whole process it took about 3-3.5 months to get this date. Now would be the time to talk to your PCP about it though. When I went for my initial consultation in Columbia the doctor who saw me said that the beginning of the year is slow and it relatively quick to get scheduled. Columbia is about 2 hours away from here and the drive is terrible because the majority of it is all back roads but it sure beats going to STL!!! As far as the surgeries I'm pretty sure they only do Lap Band and RNY. Both Dr. H and Dr. DLT have surgeon profiles on here though where you can get good information on them and their procedures. I did tons of research before I found out what doctor I was actually approved for. Good luck!!!
Topic: FINALLY!!!!!
I HAVE A DATE!!!!!! Finally after what seems like an eternity of waiting, even though it was only since the beginning of November when I scheduled my first consult, I will be joining all of you awesome and inspiring people in this incredible journey. I got the call Wednesday and was going to post then but my head has been swimming in all of this and I've been trying to help my MIL book a flight to come down to help out with my kiddos. So a month from today I will get my new beginning. Wow...I just can't believe it!!!
So I've already got a few different flavors of some protein powders for the pre-op diet and got a few samples for vitamins and such. I actually got a couple of prescriptions from my PCP for calcium, iron, and B-12 (injections). The only problem is they aren't chewable and look like horse pills. I'm concerned I won't be able to take them and will end up spending a good bit on trial and error to find something that will work. (Suggestions please.
)
Soooo I have to start my pre-op diet on.....VALENTINE'S DAY!!! My husband and I are planning on doing something the night before pending a sitter for the kiddies. Sort of the last supper if you will, a last hoorah, and any other cliche' that comes to mind.
All in all though, I'm super excited to start this endeavor!!!

Topic: What's happening Friday!!
What a beautiful day except for the nasty, dirty snow. I put my winter coat away for a few days.
I took Max to the doctor to have his knee checked. Everything looks good and he can drive in a couple of days. Thank goodness!!
Jan, you're so right in your comment yesterday about worrying and that most times it turns out it wasn't worth worrying about. In Greg's case, there is absolutely nothing I can do for him. If I had lots of money and could have paid an attorney big bucks, the punishment would have been less severe. Money does talk.
When I was a kid and we were going on vacation I always wanted to know where we were staying and all the details. I'm not spontaneous at all. I like everything planned.
Tomorrow I hope I can work in the garage sorting stuff to sell or give away. I have a lot of fabric I'm going to put on craigslist. I'm just not into making clothes. I don't need any clothes now and I actually enjoy checking out the thrift stores for bargains. I want to quilt and I do that on the machine.
Greg fixed dinner for us last night. Potato Soup and cornbread was delicious. Next week he will be on house arrest at our house so I'm going to have him cooking every day.
Have a great day!!

I'm not brave enough to move to a foreign country. I'm just moving from Raytown to Independence although I will have a Kansas City address. The complex is on the edge of Independence and Kansas City. I would prefer not to be associated with Kansas City, but it will be okay.
Barbara, we need to get together for lunch again. I don't have any vacation planned any time soon though.

Wow Jan! Your sister must be amazingly fit! I have a friend in CA who teaches it too and she loves it...it was her who inspired me into all this!
Jo..my zumba class was packed too..in fact that would be my only complaint that they need a bigger room or smaller classes...maybe it is because it is January and people still gung-ho on their resolutions!?
