mallrat,

Thanks so much. That really makes me feel better. I have no problem pay $70 if I can go to Dr. Joyce in the same office. Everything is going sooo fast. I have been thinking about this for about 3 months, but I just started the process on Saturday!!!

The SSM Depaul office has a mental health provider that works right there in their office.  Her name is Dr Joyce.  I also have United Healthcare, and I dont think her fee was covered by them.  That was for my original surgery which was almost 5 yrs ago and I think I had to pay her $70. which I didnt think was too bad.  Its just convenient to do everything in one office.  If you call the office they will make the appt for you with her.   Also, once everything is done, you shouldnt have any problem getting your official approval from United Healthcare.  They usually approve within a week.  If you have any questions feel free to pm me.

First of all, a major congratulations on making the decision to have the RNY and for being on your way. It sounds like you have a great start. Now on to your question at hand. Just a thought but you might try contacting the office that will be doing your RNY which I'm assuming is SSM DePaul. You might also check with your insurance company. They might be able to give you a list of providers. Hope that helps.

Topic: Mental Health Provider
Hi Everyone,

I have started the process towards having my RNY surgery! Today I received my doctor's referral and my first round of labs. I have faxed in my new patient paperwork to SSM DePaul and I have my insurance's un-official authorization!  The last thing I am trying to get done is finding a mental health professional for my surgery evaluation.

My primary insurance is through United Health Care and my secondary insurance is thourgh Coventry Health Care.

Can anyone recommend a mental health provider in the Saint Louis area?

Thanks!

Yes, it is cold.....too cold.  I went to work yesterday but the office closed at 3:00.  No problems driving either way.

Jan, good for you on the 2 lbs. lost.  I've lost a few pounds and I feel it in my clothes.  I feel so much better when I eat healthy.  Sunday I made Chili and Hamburger Soup.  So many talk about ground turkey so I used 2 lbs. ground beef and 1 lb. of turkey.  I just don't like turkey.  I didn't tell my family about the turkey.  I swear I could taste the difference.  I made that Cheesecake recipe I posted, but my favorite is still the Paula Deen recipe I worked over to make it healthy.  I will post that one.

My son is doing community service at Wayside Waifs to pay court fines.  He likes it there and they have asked him to continue once his fines are paid.  He's almost done with community service.  As soon as they have an opening, he will be considered for employment.  It pays $8 which isn't much but it's better than nothing and he loves animals.

As far as I know he isn't drinking, but he is very emotional at times when he starts thinking about the mess he has made of his life.  Max is so good with him and encourages him.  Greg says he never wants to be this position again.

It's almost lunch time for me.  Hamburger Soup and apricots are menu today.

Hi Jane,

We made it as far as Georgia, but it's worse here cause they don't have the equipment to treat the roads, it iced yesterday and last night in Atlanta, the roads are litterally closed down around the city. At least in Missouri you can usually move after a storm the next day. Oh well guess that's the breaks. I will drive solo after my training for at least 6 months, then I plan to train for awhile and see how it works for me. I am going to do all 48 states for the first 6 months then I will check out the dedicated runs in the midwest and see if one of them will be good for me.

How are you doing? I have been reading the board, but my memory isn't as good as it used to be.

Need to go, am eating the first meal of the day and then I need to get some sleep.

Be good and HUGS
