Topic: I did it.
Hi everyone,
Most of you know I'm having a revision from my old Stomach stapling VBG in May. (staples came undone)
Well I researched this to death, I was given a choice of Re-stapled, RNY gastric bypass or to have the sleeve.
At first I chose the RNY in his office, but once I got home I did my homework.....I just called the hospital and changed it. I've chosen to have the Gastric Sleeve!!!!
The admin clerk took the info, and she doesn't feel there will be a problem since he gave me the choice last week. She said if I don't hear back, then that procedure will be the one!
Okay, now I really am excited! I wanna be sleeved! My reason for changing my mind....I don't need the malabsorbtion that goes along with RNY, I just need a fix for restriction. (It's okay if I have to have RNY in the end due to old surgery complications though) But I had so many problems with food stuck in my band, so I can't just get my pouch re-stapled and need something else. I pray that band won't cause me problems when it's time for surgery. It's been in there for 20yrs. .........BAND BE GONE!!! lol

Hi Nannydeb,
That is WONDERFUL NEWS!!!! You will soon see all that wait and patience was worth it!
We are having a support group meeting on Sunday in Lr. Sackville if you would like to attend. I'm sure you're going to have lots and lots of questions!
I can't wait to hear when your surgery date will be!

I have been on the waiting list for over 3 years, went to the info session last August, had my appointment here in Halifax yesterday, was accepted for the surgery and now am anxiously awaiting the appointment to see the surgeon and get the surgery date. I am sooooooooo excited to look forward to having some quality back in my life. Woohoo!!!!!!

Topic: RE: living in ns with an rny
Awesome, thanks guys. I know that not every doctor is fully knowledgeable or accepting of weight loss surgery in general, everywhere not just NS. I knew I was probably worrying unnecessarily especially since I'd be coming back to Halifax and there's bound to be people with RNY's there and good doctors. It's good to know I'd have nothing to worry about since I really miss living in Nova Scotia.
Good luck with your RNY coreena. Maybe I'll see you in the support group eventually!
