I know the wls clinic at the QEII doesn't looked after other patients.  I was lucky to track down my old surgeon who works in another town--after being on my own for 20yrs.

If you're looking for regular follow up, perhaps you can call around to doctors who are taking on new patients and ask if they're familiar with Bariatric surgeries.

I may soon be in the works of finding a new physician, because my current dr. is showing reluctance to my revision, or perhaps animosity because she's always struggled with her weight too.

Good for you to start the gym!!!  You can do it, just focus on today.

Topic: RE: living in ns with an rny
RNY GB was the surgery of choice for many years (before & after the VBG stomach stapling) in NS.  VSG is fairly new.

I am sure there are many physicians that are familiar with this procedure.  I have having a revision in May, and feel confident I will receive great follow up care and knowledge from our health care in HRM.

We run a support group in Sackville that has members who went with the RNY if you would like to join us sometime.

If you can find a list of doctors taking on new patients in the area you wish to move to, just call around and ask.

Hope all works out!

I don't think RNY is misunderstood or unheard of here.

hi, I'm in a province that does the roux en y gastric bypass and I would like to move back to NS in the future. I'm worried that since I know the standard there is the VSG that I might have trouble getting care if I need it or difficulty finding a GP that isn't all weird about me having a different procedure than what's the norm there. Is RNY completely unheard of and misunderstood there? Will I be screwed if I get sick? Or am I worrying about it too much?

Jeff has lost 145 lbs altogether, and 58 since surgery on Nov 9 - he has another 10 - 15 lbs to go  :)

Hey, like I said, I needed the support & interaction just as much as anyone else, but I'm so glad it helps others too - finally my big mouth pays off!!  lmao  Thanks though, it does mean a lot to know that

Topic: RE: NEW INFO---WLS CLINIC MAY 3rd
I was put on the list over 3 years ago, attended a WLS clinic last Aug. and have a one on one appt. tomorrow.  The information session doesn't guarantee anything, it's to give you information and taken from there.  Between the clinic & my first appt. is 7 months.

You do look so good angie. I can see people doing a double take when they see you. lol So how is Jeffs weight lose going. He looks good too.

I want to thank you for getting this site going last spring cos there was nothing here until you got on and started things off for us. All the info. and good words to everyone was a big help for all of us. Personally I was very happy when I first saw your posts wondering if anyone was out there. Thanks for that.

Topic: RE: PCOS and WLS
I don't take any prescription meds any more - I used to take metformin, labetalol for high BP and they wanted me to start a cholesterol pill as well...  My BP is now normal and my last A1C was 4.2 - they told me not to be so stingy with the salt & sugar if you can just imagine! lol  My cholesterol is still a little high but it's getting better every time I have blood work done (I never did start cholesterol pills because I was trying to get pregnant ).  The only thing I have left to get rid of is the C-PAP machine - I can sleep without it now, but I don't get the same quality of sleep without it - I used to have severe sleep apnea.  I do take a multivitamin, omega's, vit e, vit d, and vit b complex as well as calcium citrate, but the only one I HAVE to take is the multivitamin  :))
