I'd like to know when the next one is as I really need to start going to meetings it just never seems to work with my work schedule so if you could let me know when the next one is that would be awesome!

I'm originally from Chicago myself. I would recommend Dr. Bernie Hanna. He's a great surgeon and has a great personality and bedside manner. His office staff are wonderful as well. Barb posted our next support group meeting details above.

Hey girl! How are YOU feeling? You're doing great on your weight loss, I see! I just found out I have a UTI, so I've got to start taking antibiotics (crushed...ugh), but other than being tired (which now I know why) I'm doing great. Down 60. Haven't felt like doing any walking the last few days, so the scale hasn't moved, but at least it's not going UP.

I have Anthem BCBS and was quite pleased with the final approval criteria for RNY. I was denied VSG and now sooooo glad... No requirement for previous dieting.. I didn't even need a referral from a PCP. The only requirement was medical necessity which I got from my PCP and my surgeon... It took 2 to 3 days to get the approval. Dr. Atkinson was not in Anthem BCBS network however, Dr. Bernadine Hanna is and is an excellent surgeon. There were only two doctors on this network so be careful with your choice if you do not choose Dr. Hanna. Good Luck and let us know how you do...

Dang Barry...wish you posted a bit sooner. A few of us went to Dr. Hanna's support meeting on Saturday. He holds meetings every other month. The next one is June 19. He's not my surgeon (but a longtime friend) and his meetings fit my schedule much better than my surgeon's. Jana's right...call his office...hope to meet you at the next meeting.

Hi there and welcome. Dr. Bernadine Hanna at Las Vegas Bariatric is wonderful, professional and has support groups at Mountain View Hospital. 702-384-1160 Call Jenny at his office. I had RNY March 30, 2010 and pleased at my success. Again congrats on your 100 lbs weight loss. Welcome. I hope this helps. Keep in touch.

Hi everyone.
I am considering WLS. My wife had gastric bypass in 2007 and although I should have followed in her foot steps and lost weight along with her I think I found the weight she lost.
I am getting new insurance effective May 1st. I have many co-morbidities (Sleep apnea currently on CPAP set at 15, Depression, chronic fatigue, GERD, osteoarthritis)
It's supposed to be a really good plan (Premier PPO) and considering the premium (even as a commercial plan) it better be LOL
I wonder if anyone has any insight as to what I'm in for with this insurance company as far as pre-certification goes. In addition to that, I would like to get recommendations for surgeons in the valley. (Dr. Tsuda vs Dr. Atkinson, etc.)
