New user just wanted to say, hi
I'm in OK too, and have loved reading the messages but this is my first post. Believe it or not two weeks ago I thought this might not happen because my ins. co. and the hospital were renegotiating there contract and said it might be next year before it was resolved. I woke up this morning and called my ins. co. just to get and update and they signed the contract yesterday and I will have a date by the end of the week. My ins. co. approved my WLS in in 6 days counting the weekend. So I look forward to getting to know you all more as time goes by. I have already learned so much just from reading. Could there be a group of people and more supportive. I just had to get in on this.
Welcome to the gang! We're glad you are here and look forward to sharing in this experience with you!

WELCOME!!! Glad to have you!! This is a great little group! If u don't mind what kind of WLS r u having? It does not matter on this board we are all suppourtive of your choice some have lap band some RNY some like me are DS Well I am pre op DS. It is great to have the added suppourt and a lot of fun to. Glad your here!
Welcome to the OK board. And congrats on a quick approval!!!
Here's my standard preop advice:
*don't compare your loss to someone elses. We all gained our weight at different rates and we'll lose it at different rates too. You just do what you're supposed to do.
*if you fret and worry of what that number says on the scales - THROW THEM OUT!!! OK, well just put them away and dont weigh but once a month. Our bodies flux all the time!! It's normal
*don't stock up on any one kind of protein or food, your tastes can change greatly after surgery. Buy the staples and then try until you find what you like.
*staples include; sf jello, sf pudding, sf popcicles, chicken broth (I couldn't stomach chicken broth so I bought chicken noodle soup, drained the juice and then diluted it more and drank that. Once small can was quite a few meals for me.)
*REST - you'll be going through MAJOR surgery, even if its done lap. You can feel exhausted for weeks afterwards.
*Hormones will go crazy. Rapid weight loss is the cause, and yes, it will get better!!!!
Wishing you the best in your upcoming surgery. Feel free to ask any questions or just voice your worries and fears, we've been there.
