Well I almost didn't pull it off...I was late for my initial appt, because I got lost.  I printed a map off from map quest and without thinking about it I printed his previous location at SouthCrest.  The girls were so nice to me though when I arrived.  They did the whole picture thing and my starting weight, which has gone up since I weighed 6 months ago.  Funny, when Dr. G came into the room, I asked the few questions I had and in a flash he was gone.  He DID tell me that he thinks I could be looking at late August early September for "THE DATE" and that I will get down to roughly 200 - 210 and that is with 10 -15 pounds of additional skin.  YUCK!!  I worry about that, but nothing can be as bad as living in pain and on a lot of meds.  I will just take everything one day at a time.  I don't know if you made it over or not OKIE...if you did and I wasn't there it's because I was late...sorry.  I do have a question that I just thought about last night.  After they take out the pain ball...how do you take pain meds, since you can't swallow a pill??  I know dumb question right.  I just thought wow, you're not even suppose to have water initially, so how can you get pain meds down??  Also, can you tell me how to add one of those cute BMI trackers to my page??  Thank you guys so much and I look so forward to communicating more in the days and weeks to come. I will be posting my pics on Tuesday so you can actually put a face with a name.

Ok, I can tell you how to do the ticker thingie that tracks your BMI/Weight.  You can go to tickerfactory.com.  You make your ticker (it walks you through step by step) and you copy the ticker (not the code) and paste it onto the signature part here under user settings (left side of the screen).  Hope that helps!

Geminii: If they do things at Bailey like they do at WeightWise - you'll be taking ice chips before you leave recovery.  You'll be sipping liquids basically immediately and you won't stop for EVER?  It starts slow but you'll be taking in a specific amount before you leave the hospital.   As far as the pain ball and meds - you generally are not released before you can take a small pill (cut up or capsule) or you can take in liquid pain meds.  They progress you while you are in the hospital so that you should have no issues before you leave.   As far as the BMI ticker - I'm not the best one to help with that - if you review back on posts, Shelly (harris2) has put up some instructions over the past week so you should be able to find a detail instruction I think. I'm just an idiot when it comes to that specific info so it would hurt you more than help you! As far as your expected weight loss - since I am not sure where you are starting - I can't determine if that is a realistic or non-realistic goal.  What I can tell you is that for a RnY you would be expected to lose 60-70% of your excess weight over the course of approximately 2 years.  Some do more, some do less.  It depends on compliance and your overall efforts to get where you want to go.  Compliance is a huge key to getting the excess weight off.  Support is another really big component to getting where you want to go!  This is NOT the easy way out by a long shot!   I am 2 years out this weekend and I still fight with my diet and food addictions every day of my life.  And I always will.  What I CAN do is recognize when I need help, have a road map to where I am going, and have my tool to assist me in getting there.  However, at my last appointment I had over 185 lbs lost and that equaled about 81% of my excess weight.  I am right about 15 lbs from my "goal" of being "NORMAL" BMI.  Even if I only hit that weight for 1 minute I can live with that!!  I am wearing the same size pants that I did when I graduated high school, so that is a monster feat!! Hang in there girl - the ride is just beginning!!  Good Luck and ask away - we are a world of information here!!

Yeah I wasnt able to come by Friday, sorry about that.  As far as drinking is concerned, I didnt get anything the first night.  The next morning they get you up and take you down to radiology and have you drink the Barium stuff so they can use the x-ray machine on you and make sure you have no leaks.  If not they give you ice chips...and ooh how I was so happy for those chips.  Then at noon they bring you jello, hot broth, some orange flavored medicine drink (dont remember what it was) and a bottle of water with a Crystal Light flavor packet.  That is what your meals will be for the next day or two while there.  The nurses will chop your pills into quarters and stay there with you while you swallow them....its a little hard at first but by the second day its a lot easier.  You will be visited by a respiratory therapist many times who will have you do a breathing treatment into a plastic mask (you know the ones i am taking about).  It feels so cool in your lungs and will make your nose run a little.  They want you up and walking at least once every other hour or so and also trying to sit up in the recliner than is in the room.  Hope this answers some of your questions.

Gee, Mr. Wolf, that answered a lot of my questions, so I'm sure it helped Gemini too.  Gemini, I was at my first appointment with Gorospe the first week of June and the my surgery is scheduled July 23rd.  Seems like I have so much to do and so little time to do it all!

Oh wow little hawk...thanks so much for letting me know how quick they let you know.  I can't wait to hear.  I know I will have so much to do appointments wise.  I just want to get through all the appt's so I can get the surgery over with.  Ya know...start living.  Living with less pain and with more energy...I'm ready!
