well i started my mushy phase today and it hasn't gone according to plan. i was gonna get up this morning and scramble me an egg but i was woke up by nurse in talihina asking us to have my son there by 9:30 to get his hand casted. he broke it at football camp last weekend. so we had to race down there and then get him to the church by noon so he could go back to talihina for church camp. we made it back early enough to go to chili's where i tried the black beans. they were awesome but a little spicy. i only ate about 6-7 little bites. the hard part was not drinking during meal and an hour after. tonight i am having my egg dang it!! also brewed my some decaf iced tea and it is wonderful!

I didn't know you could have beans without them being all mashed up!  Anyway congrats on having mushies, and I hope your boy heals quick....(he's a kid and kids aren't down for long...hehe) Have fun eating that egg! T.

Well, you got lemons and made lemonade!  Given the cir****tances you did well.  6-7 littel bites is par for the course at your stage.  Have your egg and you will be happy. I am sure your son's hand will heal fast! PM if you have any specific questions I can answer for you. Denise

You've done a great job making the most of your eating on a tough day~ I always thought the drinking thing was 30 mins after a meal?  Hmmmm  ok... different surgeons, different gameplans.  I get so confused sometimes lol.  You are doing so great on your post-op already!!

Thank God for mushies.  They are a life saver. I didn't realize how much I missed having consistancy in my mouth. How ever I don't like cottage cheese so what other things can I have besides eggs and refried beans??? I would really like to crunch on something besides a popsicle. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  Hang in there surgery sista, we will be fine.

No crunchies allowed on the mushies stage.  You can have low fat cheeses of any kind at this stage as well as egg or tuna salad made with low fat mayo only.  The second stage of mushies you can add some thinly sliced low fat deli meats as tolerated.  And, you can add some white fish or salmon.

Congratulations on reaching the mushie stage!  Life does get better after that.  Just take it slow and chew well and your tummy will be happy!
