try Kashi go lean; 13 gm protein/cup + milk =27gm for the bowl! That'll help curb the sweet cravings...I know, the more sweet /carb I eat, the more I want!

Have you contacted Dr. Yoni Feedhoff at BMI?   He has a dietician on staff and he is very knowledgeable.   Perhaps he could help you with the hypoglycemia and diet as well as any other medical issues that may lay hidden.

Hey sweetie!  I wish I had some amazing piece of advice for you, but I don't.  I do however have unlimited hugs and good thoughts for you!  I'm really sorry you're going through all this, but I'm glad you are being proactive about trying to figure things out.  I'm glad you still feel you can come here and share...the good, the bad and the ugly!

Angus,

I was diagnosed with Bipolar 2 disorder years before my Gastric Bypass and I will tell you............it got worse after my surgery, mainly because the Mood Stabilizer they had been using on me for years that worked great, no longer absorbed properly into my system. I am very lucky to be taking medication that can be monitored by blood work. I was recently put on Welbutrin and find that is helping a bit. They increased my dose to 300mg. I take Epival on top of that for the Mood Stabilizer. They also did a medication review for that as they had to almost double it for me to absorb it correctly. If you ever want to talk please pm me, I have no problem talking with you about anything..........I know how it feels to be in the low and it just feels so lonely.

Also I too have started experiencing hypoglycemia...not sure why, Doctor just took more blood. I too have to adjust my eating when this happens.

I hope to talk again soon and hope you start to feel better soon. Sarah.

Just a tidbit too: those irritable moments can be part of the depression ....... do you get High moments as well? irritability can be classified as a "high" part of Bipolar. Maybe you should see if that is also maybe something they should look at as taking antidepressants with bipolar only takes care of the depression and if you get "highs" you will still experience symptoms of depression regardless. Just a thought to ask your doctor, hopefully you don't have bipolar, but it is something to look at.

Angus, I can relate.  It doesn't matter that we're "smaller and healthier" - sometimes the heart just hurts. I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this.  Meds do help- are youon these?

Thinking of you. xoxo

Hi Angus.  Sounds like you've got some great advice here and that you're doing all the right things.  Just wanted to add my 2 cents (as corny as it might sound) ... First, bump up your B vitamins to help your mood - things like oatmeal, barley, avocado, salmon.
Now, have you found yourself lately?  In two short years you were on a roller coaster ride to a healthy weight.  When you look in the mirror who do you see?  We often define ourselves using the weight we used to carry - the big guy, I'm the fat one, etc - now that we are no longer "the fat one" who are we?  For the last two years we've got attention from everyone with all the comments about weight.  Now that we've arrived to where we're going, all of a sudden, no one is noticing - we are once again becoming invisible - we need to redefine who we are and this can seem like a daunting task.  Remember it took us how many years to become who we were in the first place - that person is not lost, just hiding.

Hey Angus.....

I was so surprised to see a post from you!  It has been a loooooooonnnnnnggggg time since you have been on the board it seems.  I am so sorry to hear you are struggling.....my heart goes out to you.  You have done so amazingly well with the surgery....your before and after pics are definitely astounding!  I am saddened to hear that you are having difficulty with the flip side of things.  I don't have any great words of advice.....just want you to know that you are admired and that we are always here to support in any way possible.

Find your smile my friend!
