Unbearable pain (TMI possible hemmeroids/fissures/poop issues)

SOunds like you may have an anal fissure to me. If you have pain, after a BM, that burns or feels like you have razors coming out your butt, could very well be a possibility. Ask you Dr to prescribe Diltiazem ointment. It can be a little costly but compared to surgery, its great. It helps to heal the fissure up. It can take several weeks. (ask me how I know). Be SURE to get on some sort of stool softner, Mag oxide, colace, miralax, something. And stay with it. It took a few days to get things where I didnt have to hold on to the sides of the toliet and do deep breathing exercises. It is extremely painful and do what you have to do to get those stools soft. Otheriwise, you will just keep injuring the area over and over again. Hang in there honey. It will get better.

omg... I thought I was the only one that did breathing exercises on the toilet. This is not funny, but it is funny. God bless those who have not have to deal with this.

Seems like so many of us go through this.  For me, it was a year one struggle - so I guess that's the good news.

I never did end up (thankfully) with a fissure or the like, although the roids did flare on a regular basis.  I blame childbirth :)  Have never been the same since.

I had a routine that at the very least kept me sane - super hot baths with epsom salts, constant use of medicated wipes vs. toilet paper, every day use of roid cream.  I liked the gel personally but they all worked.  My doctor prescribed a med called Proctofoam, I used it ever time after a BM and that worked well.  I also had the before mentioned Anal Eze (thankfully my husband got it for me).    Every day I took a chewable Fiber - which made no sense to me at the time, but it did work.

It was really being diligent that made the difference for me.  Over time, things got more normal and thankfully I can't remember the last time I've had an episode.

I can plainly remember sobbing with the pain - but it did pass....

Wishing you the best of luck.

In addition to all that I told you over on FB I would also go see a doc that specializes in this type of issue - probably a colorectal doc.  Especially if you might have fissures b/c they are going to know the best way to deal with them.

Here is the stool softener I take -
 www.walmart.com/ip/Equate-Docusate-Sodium-Stool-Softener-1-c t/11047085

Here is a cheaper brand of miralax (works the same) -
http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/walgreens-smoothlax-polyeth ylene-glycol-3350-laxative-powder-for-solution/ID=prod600790 2-product

You might also ask your surgeon for the Rx cream for hemorrhoids b/c it is stronger (either Proctosol 2.5% hyrdrocortisone or there is a nitroglycerine cream or a lidocaine cream).  I would also as for an Rx of Miralax and Proferrin Forte (2 pills per day) while I was at the doc as well – that way you can get your insurance to help pay for them.

I would take the pain pill, wait for it to take effect, and then put the suppository that Kayla suggested.  This will get the poop out of you that is in you.  And then you can start from scratch with the formula I gave you last night.  As also mentioned on that thread - you could pick up some anal ease - it is a lube that numbs that area...that might help when you're trying to get the hard stool out of you - b/c you GOTTA get that out to get things moving correctly again or you're gonna end up impacted.

And each time you poop use the wet wipes!  I started doing that after surgery and still do it. I have them in both our bathrooms at home and at work.

Unfortunately I have no advice for you.... but boy I SYMPATHIZE with you!  I am having the same issues right now.  My butt hurts SOOOOOO bad!  It feels like it is one FIRE! Everytime I poop, I am so dreading the pain and it continues to hurt and burn for HOURS. The strange part of this for me is that my poop is  soft most of the time.  I am goign to have to go to the doctor soon, I don't know how much longer I can take it. I have been putting it off because it is so embarrassing..... but I am about to say to HECK with that...I need some RELIEF!

(((((HUG))))))  I promise I know exactly what you are talking about and I am so sorry.....like you said, I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy,  I hope you get some relief soon!

Getting excited about my future!  God is AWESOME!

You might have fissures, which is a rip in your rectum and very painful. I had this once, and that was enough for me. This is what I did. First get yourself a sitz-basin you can fill with very ho****er.  Soak your bum in the very ho****er about twice a day. Pat dry gently, then get a hemmoroid suppository, coat it librelly with vaseline, and put it into your rectum. Everytime you go to the bathroom, apply vaseline inside and out when your not using the supposs. Also get yourself some baby wipes for your bottom, BUT DO NOT FLUSH! Not even the flushable one's as they will still glog up your pipes! Lay off the carb's totally for a day or two.  Keep doing this even when your bottom starts to feel better as it's still sensitive and can tear easily for about a week. I still use the wipes all the time. I know your pain! When you poop, it feels like your pooping glass, and after it's so painful, it's hard to sit down or do anything for that matter. In the future, as soon as you feel your self getting sore, you can usually catch it before it gets this bad again. Good Luch!

Don't know if this will help you,  but I had a lot of problems like you are having early out and I found that if I eat sunflower seeds everyday (at least 1/4 of a cup) I no longer have any issues with constipation.  Might not work for everyone,  but did for me and it might be worth a shot.

Thanks all. I did see my PCP this week and he did give me a numbing ointment to put on my tush. He told me it sounds like the one hemmroid I have isnt giving me the issues and he thinks its fissures. He sent over a consult and marked it urgent since I am in so much pain and they said they would see me in the next few weeks and get back to me by Monday with a date. In the mean time I have my numbing meds (lidocaine) and my PCP did write me a script for Colace in liquid if I couldnt find it elsewhere (besides a gel cap which I cant take).

I am still confused however if I am constipated or not. Since upping my Iron (I take 1 Proferrin in the AM and 2 BA Iron Chews in the PM) I have started having issues with my stomach and everything else. I am assuming its due to the iron and my iron is still low so my PCP wants me to try and get two Proferrin in instead of 1.  I am not going poop as much as before due to this but I am still going so I dont know if that counts as being constipated. My PCP said he feels that as long as I am at least going daily and if we can get it to not be painful that should be alright, but since I am worried about getting backed up due to the Iron etc (and always bowel obstruction worries me) he said I can take a laxative with the stool softener. In reality I dont know if I need it or not. I have been taking the combo of the lax and stool softener at night and its helping a little. I have still also been taking the ho****er salt baths and putting the cream on my tush.

I know there have been all kinds of things mentioned such as other creams that are scrips, fiber, miralax, stool softners, etc but how do I know which to take and how much? Right now since I am on the stool softner/lax combo and the cream for my tush what else should I start on or should I wait before adding things like Benefiber, Miralax etc? I know those are more long term opposed to what I am on is more short term. Anyhow I am glad I am not alone and people know what I am talking about. Its nice to have people understand.

Thanks again for all the help!
