how young is too young for WLS
I think to myself if I knew then what I knew now....
I don't think surgery should be done on younger teenagers and definitely not unless they've been through very closely supervised programs. But at 18 or 20 if I was the weight I am now I probably would have wanted the surgery if that had been an option. I think anyone would be better off not going through years and years of agony being overweight.

There are so many variables in play, how overweight are you, how long, what you've tried to lose weight already, how responsible are you to take supplements regularly, to exercise regularly, do you want kids, do you have co-morbs already, do you know why you overeat, have you done any therapy work to find out answers etc.etc.
This is a major decision. If you are younger than 18, Sick Kids has a program now to help you lose weight and after a period of time if you are not successful they will do surgery.
You have to be mature enough to deal with potential problems, eating properly according to the plan, etc. You will need to have a lot of support.
