St. Joe's Hamilton surgery

Hello there, I am waiting for my surgery date at St. Joe's. I have been looking at Erica's list and other posts and I really don't see anyone with appointments for suregry any time soon at St. Joe's. I know this forum does not include everyone having surgery but was wondering is there anyone out there with a surgery date for April or May at St. Joe's Hamilton?
I am aware of 3 of us from our surgical education class that have waiting for "the call" since March 17 th and I don't think any of us thought we would be waiting this long after that date for notice of a surgry appointment.
As you can all imagine it is driving me crazy waiting as my life is pretty much on hold waiting for a date.
thanks,
Tata

Still waiting too :(  I also spoke to Krista last week and she told me the same thing she told Tammy.  I would be curious to know if anyone has a surgery date anytime in April at St. Joe's and how long it took them to get that date.  I am just  not happy that we were told we'd have a date within a few days and now it's been more than 3 weeks.  Big hugs girls!   We'll get there :)

Is it my imagination, or does it appear that it takes longer to get a date at St. Joe's than the other centres?

That's because the word has gotten out that the wait time at St. Joe's is shorter and more and more out-of-catchment people are asking to be referred to St. Joe's.   This is from Christina, who works with Krista.  I asked her about it when I had my SW appt.

But, IIRC, the 'locals' (i.e. within the catchment) still get priority.

[FYI:  "Catchment" includes those who go to an out-of-town assessment centre but still get their surgery at St. Joe's (ie. Thunder Bay).]

They're going to have to put the brakes on this soon, otherwise everyone will be bogged down.  I think it's better to open more surgical centres in the neediest areas, if possible - Ottawa, for example - or put a 'distance' maximum (ie, Toronto already has several hospitals doing WLS, so no one should be allowed to transfer outside the city, unless it's an emergency and no places are available locally).

Just MHO.

 Hi Tata,
My friend also went the the surgical education class on the 17th of March and was just in last week and spoke to Krista.  It coincides with what other posters here have mentioned..April is booked and Krista hasn't even started on the May dates yet as she wasn't given the calendar.
As well as the shorter wait time in Hamilton(because they are super organized) the word is also out the Dr. Anvari is the best and most experienced and his other surgeon Dr. Huong is also top drawer, having been personally recruited by Anvare.  You are in good hands and I'm sure you will hear soon.
Best of luck.

The thing of the May schedule is what we are all waiting for..we were told that the ones that were at the March 17th class and that met the surgeon that day, that we would be getting a date in May because April was already full. I have already talked to Krista and she said last week when I talked to her that she would be getting the schedule last week or this week..so dont sweat it ladies..we will get our turn!!! Soon we will be starting our optifast and on our way to the next step :D
