When did you start feeling hunger again?

I'm five months out now and think I'm feeling hungry - and I mean all the time.  within an hour of eating I get a really uncomfortable achy feeling in my belly and feel the urge to eat again.  I've given in too often this week and feel just sick about it.

I haven't gained but sure haven't lost anything in a while.

Could it be hunger this soon?  Or could it be something else like an ulcer or infection causing the discomfort? - just grasping at straws.

I'd appreciate any advice, thanks.

I'm not even four months out and while I don't think that I've hit full hunger, I have noticed a bump in my appetite just over the last week or so.

I'm just over 6 weeks out, and i definitely feel hunger, but its not that quickly after eating, and its satisfied by my meals and small snacks.

I am one of the unfortunate ones who never lost their hunger.  One thing that you have to watch for is that stomach acid can mimic hunger.  I am on two Nexium a day, so I'm pretty sure mine is real hunger as oppose to acid.  I'm not sure how you can tell the difference.

Me, as well, Sandy..my hunger never went away. I am 6 months out, and right after healing and up to now..I feel hunger, quite often. Since I can eat just about everything, I have to really think about what I am eating..I can see me going into grazing mode, which is how I got to my weight problem in the first place! This reminds me that I have been given a tool not a cure-all.

I am 7 weeks post op and yesterday I felt 'empty' all day. I was scared too because I was a grazer and how I gained the weight. So I am continuing to track/write down my food intake so I know I am not eating too much. I am also sitting at the table every time I eat. Even if it's for a small snack. It forces me to be more aware of my behaviour. Too often I would grab a snack and go back to working on the computer and not really register I ate anything at all. This method of tracking and change of habit seems to be helping. It is scary though when you start to feel hungry. Secretly I hoped this day would never come. I was enjoying not wanting food.

Hmmm... well, I don't think I actually felt "hunger" until about 4 years out (thank GAWD for that), but I do get a feeling of "emptiness" in the gut at times so I know I need to eat something. I'd monitor what you're feeling and when and speak to your surgeon about it. Make sure you're eating enough at your meals and snacks.

I'm almost a year and a half out and I haven't felt hunger since before Optifast.  I do sometimes feel something that can best be described as an empty feeling, but if I don't have time to eat or something prevents me at the time it doesn't bother me at all, I can wait for hours with no complaint.  In a lot of ways I am grateful my hunger has not returned and I hope it stays this way!
