Yes, I'll definitely make sure of what's approved by running my meds by him for approval. Thanks again, Sandy!

It's only the RNY that prohibits NSAIDS (which stands for Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs)

You can stil have them if you have the VSG,

Hi Monica!

At this point, I'm assuming that I'll likely have the RNY   (it's what my doctor seems to push for) so I wanted to be sure. Of course, I haven't finished researching the VSG, although it does sound like an easier option.

your doctor doesnt decide that, the surgeon does.

So, does that mean that all of the surgeons have experience doing RNYs, VSGs & DSs? If I don't ask for a particular procedure, do they automatically do RNY?

they do the procedure that you are m ost suited to. If they don't have experience in teh VSG or DS, they'll send you to a surgeon who does, if that's what you need.

Thanks Monica! I'm pretty confused at this point as I haven't finished looking into the VSG. I had assumed that I'd do the RNY until I started hearing that the VSG was less restrictive as far as certain things go after surgery. At that point I didn't even know that we had a choice. I guess I'll get busy with my list of pro's & con's of each procedure and try to get a clearer picture in my mind.

It's not so much that we have a "choice" per se, your clinical condition has to be more suited to the VSG in order to get that. The RNY is the go to procedure.

Tramacet is not an NSAID and from what I can tell neither are any of your other meds. NSAIDS are usually/most always prescribed for pain. Tramacet is one of the alternatives to things like Mobicox and Motrin for WLS patients.

You should be fine.
