now question 2:
when ever i eat meat or mild skim i get and upset pouch that i just curl up in a ball and fall asleep, am i becoming more of a vegetarian ? before surgery i was a huge meat eater, now because of the way it makes me feel i can't seem to bring myself to eat any.
i will be seeing the nurse/dietitian on the 26 and i will inquire then but was just wondering on what others may suggest,
thanks Joy

Not sure that the 2 are related Joy. The meat issue could simply be that solid/dense proteins are harder for us to digest and harder to get used to consuming. It really does take time to adjust and we just have to keep trying in as best we can.
The milk issue could be a different thing. Many people develop a lactose intolerance post-op. Something to consider.

ok thanks Karen, i keep trying small amounts of meat, but i can eat lots of veggies and fruit, eggs, cheese, nuts, egg plant meals, breads are a no go as of yet. but i have no probs with crackers.
I bought 1% milk so I'm gonna try some and see how tummy feels, if its a no go then i will try lactose milk see if its any better.
I was also thinking on trying out some tofu recipes, ie: burgers with out bread.

I find i can't eat meat when it's on the dry side, it's gotta be moist and juicy or it won't go down which means eating leftovers nuked don't work for me either. I was lactose intolerant for about 20 years and now I don't have a problem with it. My GP ws always telling me to test it because things change, well now they have.
hi Sue,
I tired a beef stew cooked in the crock pot so it was very moist and tender, i really enjoyed that meal until my tummy was turning upside down felt icky, laid down for a bit i guess 20 mins and ran to the kitchen sink and just had alot of foamies for about 10 Min's then came back to lay down then slept,
as for the milk i have always been able to drink 2%, my mom told me as a baby i could not tolerate the baby milk, so maybe the skim milk is to much now, so i will try the 1% see what that does, even when i was drinking the carnation break feast or boost my tummy got upset but i grinned and barred it, so maybe i have become lactose intolerant

It's great that you can eat all of those things with no problem. As I said, meat is a much denser protein and does take some work and getting used to. Hang in there.

Last nights dinner for me was stuffed green peppers, ( bought at Zarkey's ) as scared as i was to try one i was so amazed i was able to eat the meat and hold it with no tummy upset, until i ate the green pepper, so that's OK now i know i can at least eat hamburg, but no stewing beef, lil' odd but that's OK extra lean beef is on my list to eats.
Also i wanted to say i am getting my energy back finely so happy bout that.
