I finally made it but have a few questions

Hello everyone thank you for all your support. My surgery was Friday and everything went well. I do have 2 concerns I hope someone can help me with.
The first is I am gagging a lot. I feel like there is a piece of skin hanging down from my uvula(sp?).at the roof of my mouth. Everytime I cough or drink I gag. I can actually feel it but but don't know what to do about it. I asked the nurses in the hospital but got the standard question, sorry we can't do anything for you. I am assuming it happened when the air tube was being inserted or being pulled out but darn it is a pain.
The second concern I have is one of my incesions is right under my left breast and WOW it hurts a lot. None of my other incesions are painful and this one does seem to be the bloodest also. I literally have to hold my breast up all the time to try to prevent it from touching my incesion.
Has anyone had this pain before. I will address both of these concerns with the dr. on Thursday but was just wondering .
Thanks again for all of your support and best wishes they were felt.

Someone else here was having uvula issues a few weeks ago. Id just try to deal with it for a few days and hope that it gets better.

As for your breast issue...well....ill leave that to someone else. Im not comfortable talking about your breast lol

I too had my surgery last Friday....in Guelph.  I had a terrible sore throat but that's it thank heavens.  Sounds like the air tube scraped the lining of your throat or something. I'd definately call the Doc's office asap to see if it needs to be looked at.  While he/she is looking at your throat, I'm thinking they should look at that incision under leftie....doesn't sound quite right to me.

so happy to see you post!! been thinking bout you:-)
definitely have them take a look at yur throat, could be something from the intubation or who knows? does it feel like strep?
I also had one very very sore incision..keep an eye on it, look for redness, heat or any discharge that may indicate abscesses etc. i swear I held my side for weeks, it was so sore but it eventually got better.

congrats on being on the bench!!

When they put the tube down your throat they may have irritated your throat.

It happened during the surgery two weeks ago (not WLS) and it does go away.

The incision under your breast, I had the same incision bother me as do many of us.
Wear a bra to keep the girls up and put polysporin on it (Dr recommended this for me and it worked.)
It did take longer for this one to heal for me because of the friction but it did just fine.......

When the surgeon looked at it a month out, she was happy with it and that's when she told me to put the polysporin.

I had a very swollen uvula as well. I rinsed with warm sal****er, ate ice chips and popsicles. It was the most irritating thing of the whole surgery for me. You can also suck on bradols.

Hi Tata!!! Glad May 13th was a lucky day for the both of us! The incision on the left side under my breast is also the worst... it bleed a little more after surgery and they put some extra bandaging on it... the other incisions are just itchy, but this one still has some pain. :) Glad you are well and hope the throat issue gets resolved!!!

Welcome to the bench

I would check with your dr's office about your throat issue.

As far as under your breast, try using a panty liner against the sore area to keep it away from your bra, you may only need to put one there for a few days along with pollisporin etc.

Take care and sending healing vibes and warm hugs

Keep us up to date on how you are doing
