Travelling Dilema

My question has to do with travelling after surgery.  I am having my surgery at HRRH and will be going to my sisters in Burlington a couple of days before as well as after my surgery.

So that being said, should I be okay to drive myself back home after my weeks recovery from Burlington back to Kingston or would it be wiser to have someone come up on the train and drive me home?

Is there a driving restriction after WLS?

There is a driving restriction due to anesthetic and pain medications.  After a week, you should be okay, that's when I started driving again.

Thank you so much Karen and Monica.  That definately puts my mind at ease.  Less things to have to coordinate and worry about.

Make sure you take breaks to take a walk around and relax.  And obviously, make sure you feel well enough before attempting!

I most definately will Karen.  If need be I could always stay for a couple more days with my sister.

Hi Allyson

I am only 6 weeks out from surgery and I was told I could drive after a week.  My surgery was on the 8Th of April and on the 15Th of April I had to go and drop something off which was about 15 minutes down the highway.  I went there, dropped it off and turned around and went home.  I personally found it a difficult drive and if I had to do it again, I would have waited longer.  I think I can do anything and my body let me know I was wrong (that is the 1st time I have been wrong this year...lol).  You have a much longer ride than I did and I would suggest you either wait longer than the 7 days or have someone drive it for you.

That is my 2 cents worth.  Good luck on your journey and look forward to moving over to make room for you on the bench.
