OT I need help finding a job
Okay I know it is a long shot but I thought I would put it out there in case anyone has any ideas for me.
I work in toronto but live in mississauga/brampton, and I want to find a job closer to home. If anyone has any "inside" leads I would love any help I can get:)
I work as customer service for a large company right now, but am open to anything that I can do really.
So let me know if you all have any ideas, I have been checking out sites when I have time, but it has been over 9 years since I had to look for a job.
I really like it here, but the commute is getting to be way too much.

Ah.....I am so with you on the commute thing. Currently I commute anywhere between 45 minutes to 1 hour one (way to work)......with my 3, and 6 year olds. It is hard 2 hours in the car each day is hard for kiddies. I have desperately been trying to find a teaching job closer to home, but there is very little out there right now. I am so scared to leave a very comfortable and reliable job. It's such a hard thing to do. Good luck with your search!
Have you spoken with anyone directly at Peel District for advice? This is around the time that the "sheets" start coming out with changes/moves/vacancies. You could at least get your name in for a pool-hiring. I'd call HR.

Wow. Talk about over-stalking. I don't know if you're interested in staying in the private school system, but there is also Mentor College in Port Credit. Wish I had better ideas for you.

I know. This was back in late April that I called, and have checked the VIP site everyday since, but no postings other than French Immersion. I have sent out resumes to every private school in the mississauga/oakville ares, and check their sites everyday also, but no one has any postings. I have even called to follow up and they have all said "nothing at this time, unfortunate;y". Arg... You'd think with 11 years of experience as a teacher, I'd get a bite. Might just end up staying where I am.
Here's my techniques when looking for a job.
General Sites
Create an account on Monster.com and workopolis.com.
Searching on those sites should generate some leads.
Check out:
craigslist.org
kijiji.com
Look at the newsboards:
http://groups.google.com/group/tor.jobs.offered/topics?lnk=s rg&hl=en
Other websites:
http://jobs-emplois.gc.ca/
Consider Temp Agencies
This is a good way to start at a place and see if they want to hire you.
Warning:
Don't not consider any 'work-from-home' opportunities as they are mostly a con. Only investigate one if you know someone personal that's doing it,
Good luck on the hunt.

Before the surgery I kept putting things off. I was never good enough. One of the benefits of WLS is that you start to believe in yourself. Check out my blog:

Aside from Monster.com and Workopolis.com, I suggest you also look at:
https://www.staff.com (this is for full time work only)
https://www.elance.com
https://www.odesk.com
This is to maximize your job search.
Regarding the 'work-from-home' opportunities, there are actually a lot of good ones. You just have to be extra meticulous on choosing which to take so as not to get scammed. However, if you go to trusted sites like the ones mentioned above, chances are you will actually get a legitimate home based job.
Good luck!
