Just wondering if any of you that have had the surgery experienced a lot of joint pain prior to the surgery?  Did the surgery help relieve the pain?

I definitely experience less joint pain now that I'm at goal.  I'm sure the added weight made it worse.

I have ostoarthritis so yes I had a lot of joint pain and lower back pain before the surgery. I am now just over three months out and I have no more back pain at all. I still do get some knee pain but it is nowhere near as bad as it was before - hopefully as I lose more weight this should get better as well.

I too have ostoarthritis and last week had a cortisone injection.  It has done wonders for the pain.  I don't know how long this relief will last but hopefully until surgery and then I won't need it another injection.

What kind of Osteoarthritis?? I have severe degenerative disk disease and osteoarthritis in my lower back L1-S1 affected with 2 bulging disks and compression on my sciatica... I was doing pretty good having not taken anti-inflammatories since May of last year.... my surgery was July. But earlier this month I've had to go on anti-inflammatories again (hadn't slept in 72hrs because of pain). I am also taking Pantoloc to protect my pouch but the dr has mentionned cortisone injections as a possibility but doesn't really want to give them to me because he says I'm so young etc... I am thinking maybe it would be better than taking the anti-inflammatories if it's gonna offer longer term relief with no side-effects for my stomach... Would like to keep in touch to know how the injection is working for you.
