I think I'm coming down with a cold
Will this affect my surgery date?
My throat is scratchy and that's the best sign for me to be getting a cold. I've taken my inhaler (I always get bronchitis when I get a cold) in an effort to stave it off, and my sister suggested echinacea. Can I take that so close to starting Optifast (and 3 weeks to surgery)?
Any help/info would be great. Thanks.

I wouldn't take anything herbal. You don't know how it will affect your blood pressure or if it will thin your blood (you don't want issues with either of those things before surgery). ColdFX is NOT recommended before surgery because it is not recommended for those taking anti-coagulant drugs, which you may have to do after surgery (if your surgeon requires it). I would say drink lots of water and decaf tea, eat things with vitamin C, stay away from caffiene and if you do get a cold, take a Tylenol cold product.
Good luck!
Good luck!
You are still a week or so away from starting Optifast right? So lots of fluids and rest. Honestly I do find that chicken soup and orange juice make me feel better when I have a cold. Is it possible that it is allergies?? Call Krista and ask what they have advised in the past as I am sure you are not the first person to have this issue. Chin up though, it is still 3 weeks away! You could be through it before then.
Thanks for the advice all. I've been using my Advair puffer now rather than waiting for it to become an issue, and that seems to be working. My throat is a little less sore today, so hopefully it will go away by the weekend.
