Welcome to OH. There are a great bunch of people here. Surgery was the best decision I ever made. There are hundreds of people whose diabetes completely reverse once they have had it.

The closest one is in Barrie. There are quite a few of us that travel from Orillia, Midland, Washago and I think there is another lady from up your way. The meetings are great and well worth the trip.

Hi Tracy - nice to meet you and congratulations on already losing 80 lbs - that's great! What a shame that you got stuck in a plateau.

This forum is a fabulous place as you must know if you've been reading the posts for a while now. There is so much great information here and lots of terrific folks who are very happy to share their knowledge and tips! It's normal to be scared about having surgery but you're right - there are many, many successful surgeries with no complications. Even complications can be dealt with swiftly by these very competent doctors. I think that not having surgery is a lot more dangerous due to the many weight-related illnesses that we may suffer from. I'm glad that you decided to join us here, now enjoy your orientation session on Monday! You're starting your journey.

Wow Gail, I had no idea you had the surgery...imagine finding out on here! Yes, even if we are the only ones, a support group is defintely in order for Huntsville!!!
