"Elective Surgery" - A Hitch

Okay, working from HR myself, here how it supposed to go....

You said you have 8 weeks accumiliated sick time?  So you are allowed those weeks off.  All you need is a note from the surgeon stating you are having surgery, time needed off and when expected to be back, and if you are allowed to resume full duties.  Depending on your line of work, you may have the surgeon request you be on lite duty.  Seeming that you worked for 10 years full time (assuming) you are entitled to 15 weeks paid sick time with EI.  If your employer gives you a hard time for sick time off, go to EI and ask them what your entitlements are for 10 years work in the same company for sick time, if I remember its probably 1 day a month times 10 years....

As for telling your employer, I did, but whether he liked it or not I am taking my 6 weeks off, and if he has anything to say about it, I will contact my lawyer.  We have rights.

Without this operation, your way of living is shorten, your health is at risk and that means more time off for sick.....

Hope this helps.
Linda
