Finally - a real meal!!
I have REALLY been struggling with solid foods. I'm just over 5 weeks post-RNY and just have not been able to manage solids; purees were even worse because the texture of ANYTHING pureed made me gag. But finally, I had my first real meal tonight...chicken with mashed potatoes and no-fat gravy and green beans. It was pure heaven!!! It took me nearly and hour and a half to eat 1 1/2 oz of chicken and 1/2 a small potato and a tbsp of green beans (and I had to heat it in the microwave twice), but it was well worth it. I never thought I'd be satisfied with such a tiny meal and I never thought I'd feel so good about it. These little milestones just thrill me.
it will get better...and what you are describing happens to a lot of people...when I found something that I could tolerate I ate it often...
maybe that's one of the reasons I eat the exact same thing 4 days of the week for lunch~!
