On the list it says Advil, Ibeprofin and other's So you can't take anything from the list? What would happen if you take these medications? I have not had the surgery yet and just learning new things as I go along. Surgery is set for August 10th. Can you take tylenol? I get really bad migrains from time to time. SIde effect from synthroid.
You can take it but its very dangerous to do so and personally I'd suggest you go play in traffic rather than do so. Are you likely to go play in traffic - no - so don't take anything on this list. Simple .. pretend you are Nancy Reagan and "just say no"
Likely case scenario you take them they don't work
CAN HAPPEN TO RNY PATIENTS - YOU CAN DIE - ulcers, bleeding in the blind stomach where they won't knw yu are bleeding until too late The death thing is the worst case scenario (and with close medical supervision and other drugs you can maybe take them for a short time once you are all healled ) but do you really need to take the risk?
I went to my pharmacy and had them put it on my records I was allergic to NSAIDS. While allergic might not be the right medical term it has ensured that they have a flag in their file about it.
You can take tylenol
You can take T1's (behind pharmacy counter counter - tylenol, caffiene and coedine)
You can take tramacet (prescription painkiller but non habit forming)
You can take the dangerous "good" stuff - prescription narcotics.
You can take migranal (migraine med - nasal spray)
You can take triptains (like imitrex.. there are a ton of various brand names that i don't keep track of because I can't take them due to reasons unrelated to my RNY surgery).
I don't work from a list btw - I ask the pharmacist each time i don't know a drug, if its an NSAID and then look it up in a reputable reference at work to double check. And if i'm in a situation to get painkillers I mention it time and time again (is that an NSAID, i'm allergic to NSAIDS..)

Sometimes the best support you can get isn't all purple puddles and pink rainbows.
