So when do I start feeling cold?

Everyone's been saying how you get cold immediately after surgery.  Well, here I am, 11 days post-op, sweating like a pig.  (Which is an oximoron, since pigs don't sweat ... but I digress.)  I was even sweating on my 2nd night in the hospital, and had to get up and walk around to cool off.

I know I'm probably perimenopausal, so that's some of it, but I'm just sitting here typing and I can feel the trickle going down my back - and the AC is pumping away.

Not that I'm wishing to be cold, but cooler would be nice.

I woke up cold from my surgery. Except for days where everyone else is sweating and complaining how hot they are, I'm still cold.

When everyone else is super hot, I feel comfortable. :) I'm 30 though, so that might make a difference.

Hey Beth, first off how have you been doing?

2nd most of the ppl that are freezing are the ppl that had their surgery in winter  of course we are freezing, now that its summer I'm not so cold I do have my A/C on but i cover up with a blanky bc yes i do get very  cold but my dog loves it.

I am out side every day  during this beautiful weather i love the sun and heat ... but that's just me, oh and at night i still sleep with 3 comforters  on and a fan blowing to circulate the air in my  room.

you just wait til fall or closer to winter then tell us how you  feel ... trust me ur body will feel the cold.

for xmas i asked my son all is what i want is an electric fireplace and electric blanky ... lol i don't think I'm asking for much but hell i had my surgery the tail end of winter ( Feb ) so i know how cold i was.

Ur day will be here soon, all the best in ur journey,

Joy

Doesn't mean it is going to be instantaneous. It wasn't til my first fall/winter that I started to feel the effects of losing my extra insulation.

I feel cold most of the time.  In fact I love these higher temperatures, when most people are looking for A/C I am quite happy with just a little fan, and even then sometimes it's too much.

I had my surgery in November, but still feel cold all the time.

I started feeling cold about day 5 of optifast, and stayed cold on and off since. Granted that was in December. Most nights I am fighting with my hubby about the air conditioning being on too hard. Last night (in July!) I had to go put on a warm winter polar fleece sweater and a blanket on my legs. I don't mind doing that in the winter, but when we're paying for the AC to make me cold, I hate it!

I wasn't cold immediately after surgery.  I had my surgery in March so I wasn't terribly hot either because the weather was still cold.  But I had a fan on me the whole time I was in the hospital and my body temp stayed the same for a bit.  But by summer when the heat and humidy started getting up there...so about 3ish months post op, I realized I wasn't sweating after my showers or when doing my hair and make up in the morning.  I didn't need a fan pointed on me when getting ready for work in the morning.  My a/c wasn't going as much and I wasn't keeping my house at 68 degrees, but I had it up to about 72 degrees and was still chilly.  So it does come, and I guess I didn't really notice it until summer hit.  Now, even when it is hot outside I keep a sweater in my office because I freeze all day long from the a/c.  And I love getting into my toasty oven of a car at the end of the day.  I only just turned the a/c on in my house and that's cuz my kids were complaining!  And some nights, even now in July I still wear fleece to bed!  LOL  And I very rarely have to wear antiperspirant anymore!  Bonus!

Hiya, it sounds like the effects of being perimenopausal.  If the a/c is pumping away and sweat is trickling down your back, then yes your hormones are in overdrive!!  LOL

Remember the commercials on tv about the lady running outside in the snow....perimenopausal.

Yes, this too shall pass...may take some time though.
