Optifast Question

Just curious - how is the Optifast packaged when you get it? Is it in individual packets? How many in a box? I will likely need to take it for 3-4 weeks - will I be able to get both Chocolate and Vanilla or must I choose just one kind? I'm really hoping to mix it up.  How heavy are the boxes? (I'm assuming they're not too heavy as I've heard some people say they carried them on a bus or even on a bike). Then again, I've heard it said by some people on here that their Opti was mailed to them or sent by courier - is that because they weren't ready to start taking it yet when they met with the surgeon and/or received their surgery date? (You can see I'm still a bit befuddled by some things - lol).

Thanks, Deb

Hi Deb,x
Im in Ottawa. Optifast come 14 to a box, yes you can mix them up. Boxes are bulky but not so heavy so I would drive if you can. In response to your question about mailing the optifast, I think this is because some people travel a great distance and making the trip to pick it up would be unrealistic.
Hope that helps
Ann

Thanks so much to everyone for your answers.

Boy, there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason when it comes to the Opti. Seems as though some hospitals will send it out to you while some make you come in to pick it up! I certainly don't feel like making a special trip just for that and having to drive 8 hours round trip, especially given the price of gas & the fact that I hate to drive in Toronto - too intimidating for me! Not to mention how much it hurts my back to sit for so long in a car - yikes! Also, it seems odd that some people were able to get both Vanilla & Chocolate & some were told it had to be one flavour or the other - what the heck????

Ah well, I'll just have to wait and see what happens & I'll roll with the punches.  That's what this journey is all about, right? Just gotta keep a sense of humour and find something to laugh about - it works for me!    Thanks again!

I bought my optifast off kijiji from a really nice lady that changed her mind about the surgery, got a wicked price. At the pre surgery class the dietitian said that you could mix them up unless I misunderstood. Perhaps someone else from Ottawa will chime in here because I think it would be a shame for you to only have one flavor to your Opti journey :)

At TWH your order is placed and they are delivered to your home. I hear you can also go and pick them up in Etobicoke.

well for me..i picked mine up in toronto when i was there for an appointment. i had the choice of chocolate or vanilla, so i tookd half and half. they are not too heavy, i carried them on the bus in one large reusable grocery bag, and that was a 3 week supply.

i asked to have it shipped to me, and they could not offer that option. they said i had to sign the paper work at the time they issued it to me.

2 days left on the optifast. surgery date is july 15th!!..

good luck with the rest of your journey!
