What are you eating/doing today? (Thursday)
Morning all :)
Holy COW it's humid out there! Bleah! Almost glad to be sitting here freezing in the AC at my desk at work. lol
I'm going to start posting a "diet disclaimer" each morning - simply so people know what stage of the game I'm at so as not to be confused that they can/should/or shouldn't eat what I am eating each day. Also, adding in my vits to be accountable to Gina (and myself. lol).
RNY 5+ years, Maintenance (but would be nice if a couple more came off like last month):
Pre-B - water, meds
B - coffee with milk, protein shake (iron (proferrin), multi, calcium, D)
S - a few cherries, a few green grapes, 21g old cheddar (calcium, D)
L - another kick-ass wrap - BBQ steak strips, grilled veggies, a few shavings of Merlot Bella Vitano cheese, a little tzatziki to hold it together on a small whole wheat tortilla (iron)
S - iced coffee with milk, a few cherries and grapes (calcium, D)
D - not sure - we still seem to have "steak-a-palooza" in the fridge - perhaps I'll simmer it in fresh tomatoes and onions and serve over a tiny bit of pasta (multi, iron, meds)
S - likely nothing, maybe some herbal tea (calcium, D, iron)
Bed - meds
Whew.
Have a great day, everyone! Keep cool!

Didn't realize you were neglecting some of your vits Karen - glad to see you are focusing on this again
I have been fortunate so far - still only have to take my pre-natal vitamin - calcium and now some D and Zinc......only have to space the calcium which I do in the evening
I read Gina's post - and also Elizabeth's indicating she also had not been taking her vitamins in a long time....yes you do get sick of it....but thats the deal we make to get and stay healthy and slim
OK - off soapbox now
B - bagel with creme cheese
l - chicken and a few veg
d - chicken and tomato/feta salad
s - frozen yogurt bar
All water and VITAMINS...haha.....
Have a great one

Hi Barb,
Not too negligent, thankfully. But "forgetful" enough that I was glad to see Gina's post and join in. :) What led you to adding zinc to your regimen?

Blood results indicated I was low on Zinc - one of the reasons I was beginning to lose my hair again....thankfully that has stopped
I didnt think you would be remiss in taking vits....they do get a little tiresome....you are my poster child for what to do post wls!!
I am wondering if those who had sugery OOC get contacted by their surgical centres to ensure they get their yearly blood work done? If not they will need to be personaly vigilant to ensure they are tested yearly or more frequently if not feeling well
St Joes books your next appointment and bloodwork each time...they wont let you forget to get it done...I really hope this practice continues

Interesting re. the zinc and hair loss. I may add a small amount in as my hair falls out all the time. Mind you, it could just be that it's extremely long and heavy.
Sometimes I *am* remiss, admittedly, and I'm about the last person who should be, all things considered. lol
Not sure about OOC people, but I can tell you that HRRH never contacted me at all for blood work ever. Any blood work I've had done is of my own asking. Mind you, I'm a reaaaaal oldie from HRRH and times have greatly changed. I'm sure they're much more on top of it these days, as are all of the centres I would think.

Although HRRH has told me I am now taking the right amounts of vitamins, I am still nowhere near your intake, Karen.
(BTW, they did call me with the results of my blood tests, twice now.)
I do feel weak some days (the heat seems to be a factor as well) so I wonder if their assessment is accurate.
B - 1 bowl Cheerios, 1/2 banana, large millky tea
S - cottage cheese w S/F strawberry syrup
L - 1 Babybel, 2 crackers, watermelon
S - 1/2 protein bar, protein shake (orange creamsicle flavour - yumm)
D - garden salad w salmon and egg.
1 litre water

My intake is high, Gaby, due to deficiencies.

Hi all! Great idea Karen! Will be very useful to me and hopefully others out there early in the game. I'm also going to inclue my calories, carbs, protein and fat since I track and I know lots of people wonder what others are doing (including myself).
2.5 months post-op RNY - LOSING!
B - PB Choco protein shake with 1% milk and a scoop of instant decaff. (meds, multi)
S - 8 almonds, babybel light.
L - Granola and yogurt. (Calcium, D)
S - 2 decaff with 1% milk.
D - 2oz leftover chicken thigh, boneless, skinless.
S - Yogurt. (Iron)
Total calories: 659 (will try to get it up a little bit more if I can)
Total fat: 17.7g (all good fats)
Total carb: 58.6g
Total protein: 68.4g (likely it will be over 70g if I decide to have another coffee).
Not sure how good my menu looks (I think I'm making good choices), but it seems to be working really well for me, and the weight continues to come off. I eat very similar each day. :)
