THANKS for all the support you have given in this sad time
I want to thank all of the OH members who have offered kind words of support during this nightmare time I have been experiencing since my youngest son's sudden death July 18th.
Alex was only 27, married not quite 2 yrs, and he was bedridden for a brief time due to two sprained ankles caused when he blacked out in shower, and fell in the shower/tub .. he was tall and very very obese, and could not support his weight on the badly sprained ankles so remained in bed, except to crawl on hands and knees to bathroom at intervals. He died of a pulmonary embolism (blood clot(s) in lungs) due to deep vein thrombosis (blood clots in deep veins in legs .. clots break free and travel through the circulation system to heart and are pumped into lungs in blood from heart.. they clog the vessels in the lungs and its GAME OVER.. sudden death.
We finally got to see him today, at the funeral home in Winnipeg, post autopsy.. the first we had seen him since he died. We gathered at the casket and said our tearful goodbyes and offered up prayers for him.. it was so difficult to say goodbye as parents are not supposed to outlive their children! Tonight we received his ashes and we are returning home tomorrow from Winnipeg, to Ontario. Funeral/memorial service will be held in his hometown on Thursday of this coming week.. his wife is devastated.. their second wedding anniversary is this coming Monday.
Thanks again for all the kindness you have shown me on this forum. Its so helpful to be able to vent, and its been a trying time. Now, to get home and discover what this misadventure has done to my weight loss progress.. I have tried to keep up my diet regime and my exercise the best I can, and its not been easy...but I have NOT indulged in forbidden foods and have continued to keep portion control and protein intake top priorities in diet. So hopefully some weight has come off this past week.
