A Few Things I've Learned from the Vets
I don't disagree with anything that you've said, absolutely not!!! Anyone who has gone through the process of having surgery SHOULD have done their research and know all of this stuff....
BUT having said that we have to realize that people get upset and anxious and use this message board as a place to air their concerns and look for information. People often do things that I don't understand, what seems obvious and commonsense to me probably doesn't to someone else when they are in the midst of perceived or real turmoil. Apparently many overweight people think food will solve their problems as many are emotional eaters. No, a chocolate bar or a pint of ice cream won't solve problems, seems pretty obvious but I'm sure most of the people reading this indulged in that behaviour at one time or another.
It is impossible to discriminate who comes and uses this message board but it is possible for individuals to ignore those posts where people are asking those questions that seem ridiculous or they asking the same question over and over.
I've noticed a few people who were fairly regular posters who are no longer here for whatever reason. Perhaps this board served it's purpose and they've moved on. Maybe they got tired of the tone of the average post or got slammed a few too many times. Who's to know? I find myself as well not on this board as much as I was in the beginning when I started the process of getting WLS and I suppose I asked my fair share of stupid questions. Weren't we all at that stage once?
I admire those vets that stay and continue to offer support. Unfortunately no one has got control over who is going to be on this board or what questions they will ask or what advice others will offer. I've been on other message boards and posted regularly but eventually moved on for similar reasons. It comes down to making a choice. Accept the fact that there are always going to be those people who are going to drive you nuts and ignore them as best you can or move on. I leave you with these words of wisdom:
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.
