colace gel caps
I used the Colace in liquid form for kids, and doubled the does.
However, I later purchased a different (stronger) softener which came in gelcap form, and was encouraged to break it open with my teeth and suck out the contents, discarding the gelatin.
It tasted absolutely VILE
but it did work - which was the main thing.
It probably also helped that I drank a full litre of Crystal Lite-flavoured water immediately afterward....

Hi, I'm almost 7 weeks post op and haven't heard anything about not taking gel caps, as a matter of fact on Tuesday when I was in the Guelph centre, someone was saying that the liquid Tylenol in the gel caps was recommended for the pain they had. I've been taking the colace gel caps for a few weeks now, should I be concerned?
I bought it over the counter, I just asked the pharmacist where it was as it has the chemical name. I had spoken with the nurse when Dr. Reed was on vacation about needing help, and she recommended the colace to me, taking 2 caps a day. When I saw Dr. Reed also last Tuesday, he said a BM once or twice a week is fine. With the colace, I'm doing that without any issues.
When I was there on Tuesday I heard someone say they were car pooling with someone else, was that you? I was coming out of the nurse's office, but didn't get to see who it was.

I started taking it early out, too. No problems, but still need to take MOM every now and then in addition to the colace. As for the prescription part, you can get it off the shelf (sodium docosate) but some people can get it covered under their benefits package if they have a prescription. My plan didn't cover it.
