I remember the gurgling stomach thing fondly - it was kind of fun, but I don't get that now!  Your new experiences are just starting, so get ready for the ride of your life!

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora.  Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.

Hi Tracy,

Dr. Sullivan will be performing my suregry on November 8th!  Which hotel did you stay in after your surgery?

I'm so happy for you that you are home and healing nicely.  Please keep posting about your post-op experiences, I really appreciate reading everything.

I actually found the hotels near the airport to have the best rates, so I went there.  It was only fifteen minutes from the hospital, so well within the required hour and at least $20 a night cheaper!  However, there is a Four Points by Sheraton on Lakeshore that is only a couple of kms from the hospital that will give you a medical rate for St. Joe's, but book far in advance.  I called a week before my surgery and all of the cheap rooms were gone (cheap medical rate is $100 a night, next size room medical rate is $130!!).

Highest weight ~ 360, Surgery weight ~ 280, Current weight ~ 171

Thanks for that detailed post, Tracy - you're right - I love to read all the details of everyone's experiences.   I am really, really impressed with the thoughtfulness of your doctor and the way he took the time to reassure your family - that really means a lot! It's nice to know that some doctors seem to really understand how scary this whole experience is for patients having gastric bypass surgery, so Bravo to Dr Sullivan!  I'm really glad to hear that you're doing pretty well these days and learning how to adjust to your new lifestyle - best of luck as you continue on your journey in your healthier new life!!!
