Meeting with surgeon _ TWH-- so many thoughts/questions

Hubby is quickly going through the process - has appt with surgeon at toronto western hospital on the 25th of October.
What have some other's experience been with TWH - what can we expect as far a date possibly from that point - i know there are no two cases the same but just looking to get a general idea.

We are playing all the what if's game - we have a trip to florida planned for Febuary and we are trying to plan a cut off date for when he would agree to have it done before our trip - It will be a busy week with two teenage boys - we are wanting to hit 3 amusement parks - so some weight loss would be fantastic vs. post- op healing/learning to eat - any thoughts?

i went through twh - expect a surgery date of optifast time plus approx 7-14 days , enjoy ur trip to florida

Hi there, when I met the surgeon at TWH on July 29 he gave me the date right away.  The first date was Aug 30 so a month but he wanted me to do 6 wks opitfast so he gave me Sept 14 so 6 wks away.

It will totally depend on which surgeon you meet with. If you get a surgeon who performs surgery out of TWH or TEG you will likely set a date at that meeting for sometime next month. If you get one of the surgeons who performs surgery at St. Mike's you will probably get a call sometime in November to set a date in the early new year as they perform WLS much less frequently at St. Mike's.

Do you know which surgeon you are meeting with?

It does really depend on what TWH has on their schedule..   I had my  " last"  appt with TWH , and a week later, I was called to meet the surgeon. 

That was Sept 30.  They scheduled my surgery date for October 17.   (they allowed 2 days for delivery of Optifast,  as I am not in the GTA. ) 

I was not on any cancellation list.  

It may also depend on how many weeks of "optifast"  he is sentenced to.. lol..
