had surgeon appt today, was offered next friday for surgery

Had my surgeon's appointment today at TWH, and they offered me a surgery date of next Friday, and I would have only had to do one week of optifast.   That was just too soon, so I asked for next date, it was Oct 24, asked for next date, Oct 31, so I ended up taking for Nov 4th.  Need to get things set up for my kids and such so this date will work out better.  I was in total shock when the doctor said, how about next Friday lol...I swear my mouth dropped lol.

Wow, wow, wow.  I hope they get someone for the timeslots.

Congratulations on getting your appointment.  Now you have a goal to work towards, and can make the appropriate arrangements for your kids, etc.

When I went for my first visit with HRRH on Feb. 1st 2010 they gave me a surgery date of Feb 26th 2010,so I totally understand your surprise.

When I had my appointment I had my choice of any days! Too bad you didn't take the 28th that's the day I'm going to be there!

It's great that you had control in choosing a date, we have such little control over anything in the process. I had 5 days notice prior to surgery 1200 km away, thank goodness everyone was on standby to take care of the kids and dogs. Congrats on your date, it will still sneak up before you know it!

 That is just so amazing to me.  I'm really happy for you - it sounds like things move pretty quickly in Ontario.  I live just 30 minutes away from Ottawa, but on the Quebec side and things are so different here.  I've been on the waiting list for surgery since September 2009.  No tests, no orientation, no nothing yet.  I called this week, just to hear how far along they are on this list at the Montreal hospital, and found out they are calling people from Jan 2009 now.  At this rate I could be looking at June or even September 2012 (no surgeries in the summer)...that would be 3 years waiting!!!

We have put off selling our house because we figured my surgery date was coming up quick, but seeing your message makes me think it might be faster just to go ahead sell and make the move back to Ottawa (I work in Ottawa and the commute is killing me!).

Anyway - just wanted to share some insight into provincial differences...I can't wait to be on the bench with all of you guys!
