Anyone from Guelph clinic ever had a....
VSG ? I'm just curious as I know they like to stick to the good ol' Gold Standard. But I see more and more of these ones being done lately elsewhere. I have some concerns with some health issues now that I have that make me think the VSG may be a better fit for me.. I am supposed to see my surgeon this Fri so I will have to ask him, but thought I'd ask you guys here first LOL

Hi, My mom actually had VSG through the Guelph clinic. She really did her research and was able to tell her surgeon why she needed VSG and not RNY. Just make sure you are prepared and know the 2 surgeries and be ready to tell him why VSG is the right surgery for you. Best of luck, I hope you get your wish and get VSG.

I had my surgery at Guelph although I went through preassessment in Windsor. When I asked about VSG in Windsor they told me that if I wasn't prepared to have RNy I should "leave now"..that was at my first appointment. I simply didn't mention it again until i met with the actual surgeon and when i had that meeting, i calmly made my case by presenting my valid reasons for my preference. Dr. Jules asked many questions and I guess I passed his test because he agreed to do the VSG. Thank you, thank you. I love my sleeve and I can still take NSAIDS whenever I need to.
Thanks for the reply ladies... I have done my homework so I will do my best to present my case LOL
I'm fully prepared to get the RNY if need be but I just think I would have less struggles with the VSG, although I know it may require a bit more discipline on my side of things as it's not a malabsorption and doesn't have the dumping deterrent.
Thanks again.

I had a VSG at Guelph, lost 220 pounds in 9 months, and feel great! I was told early on that I might have to have the VSG, but my doctor was going in with the intentions of giving me a RNY. When she saw the size of my ventral hernia the day of, she told me she was giving me the sleeve before I went under.
