VSGer's Need Advice Please
For those of you *****quested and got a VSG (especially at TWH) at what point did you start expressing your choice? I have two appointments on wednesday and I'm wondering when I should start pleading my case. VSG is what I would prefer. I have done tones of reserch, seen the good, the bad and the wonderful! lol So I'm hoping that someone will have a great suggestion for me!
Thanks all you wonderful losers! :-)

I am a pre-oper however, from what I have read on the board, I wouldn't say anything until you get into see the surgeon. The nurses and other specialties will only prepare you for a RNY. I am going the same route when I meet the surgeon due to my osteo arthritis and having the ability to use NSAIDS. Good Luck with everything!

For myself, I was very clear from the very beginning that I did not believe I was a candidate for RNY due to my need to take NSAIDs and my Von Willebrand Disease making me high risk for anemia. That way when I spoke to the nutritionist, she knew RNY info was not helpful for me and expressed a desire to learn more about the supplementation and nutrition needs for DSers for me. I still had to sit through the nutrition class and nod my head, there was some good info in there but most wasn't relevant for me, but for the one-on-one it made sense for me to tell her I wouldn't be having RNY so out appointment wouldn' be a waste of time. I want the surgeon to see that I've been serious from the beginning about what surgery I need, and now it has been documented by all the people I've seen what my intentions are. I don't think it makes much of a difference though which way you handle it, because it is ultimately the surgeon who will make the call. Just be sure to show him that you know your stuff!
